    Show your Wood Stove

I bought a fiskars maul a couple of years ago and love it. I have essentially retired my others. Considered buying a splitter, but with that maul and the straight wood I cut, I think it would be a waste. Maybe when I get older.

    Woods furnace choices

I have been running a Clayton 1802g for three seasons now. I have had no issues except for not really liking the draft blower hooked up to the thermostat. Ended up just running it manually and did away with the draft blower. I heat about 3000 sq ft, always at least 74* inside. I probably burn...

    Black locust

Got one side of my old barn floor filled. Working on the other side of it ever freezes her again. Hard to see, about 7 cords here.

    Black locust

I burn quite a bit of it. Definitely takes a while to dry. I ask because we have a stand of BL between two fields. Only cut the stuff that falls in storms. Just hate to burn up valuable wood, but I will, it keeps me plenty warm.

    Black locust

Been reading a little bit and was wondering what kind of market, if any, is there for black locust logs in Indiana? Just curious

Pushing Length Limits on Splits in Stove?

Furnace holds up to 35". Started cutting around 26-30" but seemed to not season very well. I have since cut down to 18-20". We will see what happens. Getting more than one year ahead now too, that should help.

    Splitting/Chopping Tool Review Thread

    Clayton 1802

Using a Clayton 1802. I was wondering about the "secondary heat chamber". Is it supposed to be burning up there or just create a longer smoke path? Us Stove lady said there shouldn't be flames up there but I hear others say that there should be. Just wondering if anybody had any experience with...

    Splitter

I have furnace, Clayton 1802. Indoor, and I probably burn around 7-8 cords. Lot less this year. Splitting mostly ash, locust, sycamore and oak when I can find it. Mostly smaller stuff so a 22 ton should do the trick. I had been cutting them around 30" long but decided this year to shorten it up...

    Splitter

Considering buying a splitter. Maybe in the spring they will be on sale. Just looking for some recommendations. Looking at a dirty hand tools 27 ton or a swisher 28 ton(I think). Not getting rid of the mauls, still have two sons that need those

    Wood ID

I guess I will go with basswood. Pretty sure that it is not poplar or ash. Sending it to the shoulder season pile
