Could use advice on how to address a challenging situation with the chainsaw...

Thank you so much for all of the info. It is great to hear it from someone who knows the area. As for the 12 hours that is the ferry from Prince Rupert to Petersburg which is my end destination. The wife and i argued about the best route for weeks. With the agreement we would choose a...

Could use advice on how to address a challenging situation with the chainsaw...

I am driving up through Montana than headed West to Prince Rupert that ferry is only about twelve hours. The wife picked that route so we can stop in Calgary and few other spots along the way.

Could use advice on how to address a challenging situation with the chainsaw...

I run boats working on lighthouses and servicing buoys. I am looking forward to less people and more space. I have wanted to get to Alaska for some time. The opportunity finally came up and I jumped on it.

Could use advice on how to address a challenging situation with the chainsaw...

I have been on and off over the last couple of years. I was on pretty frequently than got a little frustrated with some of the internet tough guys. So I backed off for awhile but here I am again. I am in Essexville. My full time job is with the Coast Guard but I do some freelance climbing...

MY FIRST SAW! WHAT WAS YOURS?

My first was Grandpa's 032. I bought a used Husqvarna 55 non rancher and ran it pretty hard and when it finally needed some work my wife surprised me with a brand new Husqvarna 450 for Christmas. I then got an almost free Jonsered 630 and now have a almost free MS 441. I don't run the 55 or the...

    Refinishing Tool/Knife Handles

I use olive oil on the carbon blade and handle of my skinning knife. I can post pics later when I get home. I went with the olive oil so it would be a little safer on game I am eating. I have heard it can get rancid but I have been using it for over a year with good results

    silver maple moisture content?

Split it small and get it in the sun and wind. Silver maple dries very quickly. I cut a very large one this spring. Two days after cutting the rounds were checking. I got it all split about two cords worth and it is down to about 18% right now.

Can't agree more with Mustang Mike. Stumps only tell 1/3 the story. The rest you need to be there that day with that weather to see. Some of the trees I dropped over the weekend had very large hinges but it was blowing 25mph and the were leaners. I cut until I had to get out of dodge.

I usually blanch the peppers before freezing so the keep longer. I would can the banana peppers and have some great sandwiches. Use the hot peppers in some salsa. All I have left in the garden is kale, spinach and Brussels sprouts everything else is stored.

Dancan my stupid chickens do the same thing I don't know how I haven't run them over yet. My little helpers helped stack the load of ash I split today

What falling cut do you use for tall skinny trees?

Buy some of the short 5" wedges. If one won't give you enough lift stack up two.

    Understanding Husqvarna theory/nomenclature.

I will say regarding the current rancher line that the name is all marketing. A friend of mine bought. 455 rancher. Supposed to have a bit more power than my 450. My 450 is much faster and weighs less. But it doesn't say rancher on it so it is clearly not that cool ;)

    Best Starter Saw?

I started with a bow saw and a hatchet. It certainly adds character. I love my husky 450.
