Northern Hyd grinder, making it work (pics)

Well done. The last pic is excellent.

Goes between the bottom of the vice assembly and the grinder frame. Takes up the play when swiveling.

    Cheap bar oil?

Pretty particular about using oil...Just not particular about what kind of oil. Right now I'm chewing through some closeout Pennzoil I got at K-mart. 80/90 gear oil for outboard motor lower units. Got some old Castrol 30 weight bar oil still in original containers that needs burned up next...

    Stihl MS250 Stud Problem

That is a pic from a saw listed on craigslist today. $100.00 w/o bar and chain or $130.00 with bar and chain. I don't see the saw in your list of equipment yet. Did you pick it up today? Very good price! I see the ad has been pulled.

    Crappy Little 026

Howdy, Randy. Just stopped by for a moment. Headed to the woods with the bow soon. Rut is starting to get going around here.

How do i use my Pferd tool

If the cutters are the same length, the rakers are consistent, and there is not operator error on muscling the saw through the cut, then I'd go to the rails on the bar. Remove the bur, square up the rails, then see what's up.

    7 or 8 pin

Ported? Don't know. Stock? An 8 pin and long bar really get "doggy" in Eastern Hemlock. Seems like it wouldn't be a lot different on a ported saw.

    Which wood is this?

Oh man, I used to be infamously bad at these kind of threads. Likely still am. Leaves would help a lot. My guess... Ailanthus, or also known as Tree of Heaven. Grows fast, poor quality firewood, and supposedly has a bad odor when burning.

    Thank you

Good chance is has the "cut out" for a screw to adjust the oiler. Just doesn't have the plumbing, or the screw. I don't let my 026 have much time sitting and idling, so it's not an issue to me. Never had it run out of bar oil before fuel, yet.

    Thank you

Well done on the saws. That particular 026 design is my favorite. Plastic tag or metal tag, doesn't matter. It's a good looking saw! Those two saws were my main wanna-be logger set up as well as my go-to firewood combo for years. Still running the 441, but its paired up with a ported 026 these...

    Blue 346XP Coils

Lurking and saw this a few days ago, so got around to checking... Blue limited for 385/390 Black unlimited for 346 Black unlimited for 272 xp. Not sure if the labeling is correct. Didn't crosscheck the numbers off of the coils. Thought I was done with this chapter in my life, but find I keep...

    026 find

OP, Good buy. I have had a number of 026 and 260 saws over the years. Down to just two. Both are 026 models. One I bought new in 1995. The other has been woods ported by a member here, and it's a runner!

    Swap meet...

Sorry, I dug through about 4 boxes of stuff, oh and one filing cabinet. Did not see anything that looks like a handle mount.

    Swap meet...

Wow, that was almost 100 pages ago. Who knows, it may still be down in the cellar. I don't mess with this stuff much anymore and have a few boxes of it. I do still cut wood and have a fairly large logging project going, so once in a while I dig through it to see if there is something useful.

    Is your shop too small?

I usually take 322 East into Hershey. In fact, hoping to get to a Bears game tonight. I haven't noticed any holes lately, so I guess yes would be the answer. I'll pay closer attention this evening.

    Is your shop too small?

We did get that addition put on the garage a couple of years ago. Yep, it's already nearly full of junk.

    smoking chain

~ Snip ~ Not that things can't change, but I have hundreds of cuts and many, many tanks of fuel on sprocket nose bars that had grease holes which were never greased.
