Stihl 026 sometimes starts super hard and sometimes loses power at WOT

Marine 2 stroke oil is not the same as the chain saw 2 stroke oil. That may be a small part of your issue.

    Can I save this tree?

Start with a new tree or seed. If you plant a new tree, be sure to plant it higher in the native soil than that one was planted. Every $5 tree deserves a $20 hole, not the other way around. If you have spinners (samaras) sprouting all over the yard, like I do, why not just transplant one where...

Stihl 026 for sale locally, buy it?

At that price there is no way you would get mine and it wears a 20" bar. An 026 is an awesome all around firewood saw. If you look at your first picture, there are 2 tiny holes above the obvious one. Those are for the other adjustment screws. That is a fully adjustable saw.

palo verde tree blown down - advice

I have an english walnut that was damaged back to nothing but a stump. I cut it off just inches from the ground to make it look a lot like your cut back pictures. When it started to sprout again I let a single new trunk develop and trimmed the other shoots. Today it stands 30 feet tall with a...

    Split Tree

I have a large maple in my front yard that looked like that about 10 years ago. Today almost all signs of the damage are gone and the tree is thriving. I would certainly not write off that tree.

When to use a bore cut

Good resurrection Jeremiah. I am sure the usefulness of a bore cut has not changed but the OP is probably long gone.

generic 18 inch chain saw mill chains

A saw mill chain is not what you want for normal cutting. A saw mill chain is designed to cut along the length of a log, not cut through it. If you want a 20 inch chain for your saw, just get a count of the drive links you need and read the information on pitch and gauge that is stamped into the...

Anyone Try The Fiskars XA22 Hookaroon?

Looks interesting. Let us know how it works out for you. Why the 31 inch vs. the 28 inch at half that price? $88 vs. $42 on Amazon.

    House full of smoke

You need to look for what is keeping your house pressure low. It could be something you have overlooked like a bathroom exhaust fan or a stove exhaust fan that is drawing some air out of the house.

    Trailer Salesman

I am reminded of a car I bought back in 1968. I went to a dealer and told the salesman to give me his best price and I would be shopping around. He shot me a price and I went to 3 other dealers who each told me no way would I ever get that car for what I had been quoted because it was under...

What close calls have you had?

White gas is the fuel used for lanterns and Coleman stoves before they started canning the stuff and selling it by the quart. It was basically unleaded fuel that was never intended to burn in an engine, without all the additives you will find in a modern unleaded.

Husqvarna 350 wont start after chain popped off bar?

Check your nose sprocket. It needs to move easily and the jam may have damaged it.

    Question about burning wood

Why do you care if its pine? Any dry wood burns about the same but the more dense woods burn a bit slower. Out west the only wood available is things like douglas fir and pine but it causes them no issues at all if it is properly dried. If you were burning 50 years ago and constantly burned...

    Wood stove insert ???s

An insert or a stove has major advantages over a fireplace. First up is that it uses far less air from the room so you don't pull near as much outside air as you would with a fireplace, even if you don't get an outside air kit, OAK. Next up is that you can control the combustion rate to control...

    Weeping Mulberry very near house

Remove that thing and treat the stump so that it will not grow back. Mulberry will aggressively re-sprout so a dose of Tordon is in order as soon as the tree is cut. If you wait a day, cut off the surface of the stump top and then treat it. The Tordon is <$10 at a local garden center.

Advice on removal of two Oaks that are close to my house

If you are going to remove the larger tree, expect a $1500 to $2000 bill, not what you were quoted. I had a 30 inch dbh ash removed that was about as bad a location as your large one for about $1500 but that was about 5 years ago so figure the price will be a little higher by now.

New Chain, file not fitting easily for sharpening

New chain should be a breeze to touch up. Have you checked the box the chain came in to make sure you are using the right file? It sounds to me like it is too big but the box will say for sure.
