New Echo cs 3510 Anyone own one yet?

I also like the clutch. It's an outboard clutch and that gives the saw a nice balance for limbing. But, even better, it doesn't require any specialty clutch removal tool ... It can be removed with a standard 19mm hex wrench -- like you find on a scrench. That beats the hell out of using a big...

New Echo cs 3510 Anyone own one yet?

I'm glad somebody revived this, because I bought a 3510 about a month ago. I've got a full arsenal of modern and vintage saws in a range of sizes, but I had nothing below 60cc with a good brake and I've got a son who is the right age to start learning to run a chainsaw. . . So I read some...

Do you have an electronic chainsaw?

I've got a tiny top handle Makita 18v. It's good for trimming branches or for shortening a few pieces of firewood that are too long for the stove. Its quiet so it doesn't disturb the neighbours. While it has its merits, it's not any kind of replacement for a gas saw for felling and bucking...

Is it 3/8 or .325 or is it both.

I should have also said, Oregon chain is normally 5/32 for 3/8LP, 3/16 for .325, and 7/32 for 3/8. I'm pretty sure Echo saws use Oregon chain. Envoyé de mon moto g power en utilisant Tapatalk

Is it 3/8 or .325 or is it both.

It mainly depends on you -- both how good you are at hand filing and how much you care about manufacturer's recommendations. For .325 chain you'd normally use a 3/16 or 11/64 file (depends on manufacturer of chain). For 3/8 Low profile you'd use 5/32 or 11/64. You could do either with an 11/64...

    Magnesium Mites?

I've got a related question if anybody knows the answer. I was thinking I somewhat understand this concrete and magnesium business; but then I got thinking about gas-powered concrete saws. They are usually based off a chainsaw and are covered in concrete dust for their whole life. How do they...

    Magnesium Mites?

It's particularly corrosive to magnesium. If the concrete is dry and it's mainly just the plastic tank/handle touching it's only a minor concern; but if there's also dampness and it's in direct contact with the magnesium parts, it can ruin a saw. Or that's my understanding anyway. I've seen old...

Makita 7300/7900 AV -- Easy DIY Improvement

HomeDepot Canada had a good online price on the EA7300P and so I ordered one. It arrived promptly and for the most part I'm incredibly pleased with it -- starts quickly and loads of torque. One thing I noticed that I disliked fairly quickly after unboxing was that if you roll the saw on it's...

    pioneer farmsaw decomp valve

If it's helpful to you, I've got a P26 out on my bench right now and the decomp valve is the same as P28. The dimensions are these: base fitting is 0.85 inches long, 0.496 diameter threaded section is 3/8 - 24tpi (about 0.37 diameter) overall length is 1.43 inches circular disc on the button...

    pioneer farmsaw decomp valve

I haven´t seen a farmsaw up close, but I think it's the same setup as the P28/P26 -- ingenious and aweful all at once.

    Pioneer P25 fuel line/filter

If the fuel and oil caps are on the side, it's the small series and if they're on the top it's the large. There are, of course a lot of other differences but that's a really obvious one. The small P series are the saws in the 50cc range based and mostly all used P2x model numbers -- P25, P26...

    Pioneer P25 fuel line/filter

I guess my parts saw is a P-26 and not a P-25; but I'm pretty certain it's the same. Some light heat might help get the fitting out if it's gummed up with some kinda sealant. If the fuel line is shot there's a good chance the fuel vent valve is too and, if so, it'll leak fuel out through the...

    Pioneer P25 fuel line/filter

Take the filter and any clips off the end of the fuel line, unscrew the tank feed, and pull the tank line through. Replace the fuel line (tygon works well) and feed it back through.

    Pioneer P25 fuel line/filter

The flywheel nut and sprocket are both left hand threaded -- a small P-series oddity. (The large P-series used a splined clutch drive and both sides were right hand threaded -- another oddity.) I've done the fuel line repair before and I don´t recall that I had to crack the case -- I´ll take a...

MS 290 New or OEM flywheel?

Don't feel like an idiot...I went through 2 flywheels inside 6 months on my 029 a few years ago because of things I forgot to do or didn't double-check. In the course of that I did get to compare the difference between OEM and aftermarket flywheels. OEM is prettiest, but either will do the...

What's your favorite chain size for 50 cc saws?

.325 pitch chain is what I'd run on a 50cc saw, generally. Its pretty standard on that size in pro saws in my area. I've never had any problem keeping an edge -- although not all chain is equal and I've heard complaints about about some of the box store chain brands (in all pitches). I've never...

    Reason for idle speed spec?

I'm not always good at brief. . . But, yes, exactly! :)

    Reason for idle speed spec?

I guess I gave my 2 cents on how to tune idle speed but maybe that wasn't your question. My understanding is that climate and altitude affect how a saw runs -- I think the idle spec is supposed to give a saw mechanic at a dealership with a good tach a quick way to double-check the factory...

    Reason for idle speed spec?

I've got a little tach -- not a pro model, but reliable enough. I've tried setting them to spec for idle where I can, but in some cases (and it seems to be on well broken-in saws), the spec is too slow and it idles a little more reliably if you run it a bit faster than that. Partner had a...
