    Tuning questions

Post up the model number of the strato Poulan. Just a hint. I had a similar problem with a strato 40cc area chainsaw awhile back. Start and idle good but High rev not smooth and would die when coming back to idle but re-start and idle Ok. The strato boot (the rubber tube between the upper...

So question of the day did poulan ever make any good reliable chainsaws or weedeaters etc

The 70's and 80's Poulan S25CVA's are good reliable lightweight,, well made quality built chainsaws with anti-vibe. I heard a rumor that the Homelite EZ's were built to compete with the S25 Poulans. The EZ's are good strong little saws but do not have anti-vibe other than a rubber wrap on the...

    Compression tester issues?

Just because a schrader valve has a white band does not indicate that it is actually a low pressure valve. I've seen them different colors. A regular schrader tire valve will result in a low reading. Here is an example. https://www.ebay.com/itm/121040848441 I have two compression testers for...

Now days about your saw you can go on-line and gets lots of info (you tube how to's) and the price of a carb kits, replacement clone carbs, etc. I know nothing about your other thread but smoking chain may require a replacement bar and chain and the oiler section repaired then a replacement...

    Flat files all the same?

I do like pinoreerguy and take a flat bastard file and make it a safe file. I also have files that I've made safe on the other edges for other purposes. I keep my safe files listed as such separate from my others. I also wrap my files in oiled paper so as to keep from rusting and to keep them...

Who makes the best Lineman pliers and Diagonal cutters?

I noticed that someone who does not know the limitations of their pliers or wire cutters can easily ruin most any GOOD NAME brand easy and fast. I've got linesman pliers and wire cutters that I have had for years. I know my electrical tools l limitations and select proper tools for cutting...

    What made these holes?

Sapsuckers. I've seen them do that on most all kinds of trees, Oaks, even pine trees. I sometimes think them sapsuckers are marking their territory. (seeing who can pee the furthest) I've seen trees where the sapsucker stopped doing such and the bark would eventually heal but leave the scars.

Help identifying a tree in my yard that has to be removed, is it valuable?

One thing to keep in mind is the vines eventually sucked the life out of the tree. For about 6 years or more I would tell some kin folks as i visited them that they better cut the vine runners off of a large Oak tree next to their house or the vines are going to kill that tree. They ignored my...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Before pulling the flywheel to inspect: If you have access to a Ohmmeter you can disconnect the wire coming from under the flywheel and read the points opening and closing. I prefer a analog ohmmeter (non-digital) for such. The magneto coils very seldom go bad on them old Macs. You can also get...

    Homelite EZ carb question?????????

Noticed that both of these carb are listed as for Homie EZ, Walbro HDC 44 and a HDC 64 carb. Can these two carb be used/swapped with each other when used on all Homie EZ's? (Super and Non-super EZ's) Are they jetted different or maybe one a later model????? Appears both carbs use a K10-HDC...

    Gasket Material

I think maybe it's fel-pro at Napa. Do not remember the part number. Has metal re-inforcement imbedded inside. Use tin snips to cut. The sheet at one time came as about 16x16 but now 12x12 Napa might have to order. I seem to think I seen it at O'Reillys but not sure. I've even used it as intake...

    Poulan Pro 5020AV

I did not look at a IPL for your Poulan but a pump kit for those is very reasonable priced. ($20 or less usually for some Poulans) The fiber gear on the pump is driven y usually a coil type spring on the crankshaft. (which is included in some kits and requires proper installing so as to not...

Homelite tuing help maybe idles bogs dies

It could still be the (your) carb as the two guys above are relating too. I've replaced the little check valve but I do not do so until I've subbed the carb and got a good run and know for sure that the issue is in the carb that is causing the problem. Some of the Homie carbs I've been into to...

Just couple more hints: Go to post #17 and ask Mark. Send him a PM. I've not had any experience with the 63-G I've worked on the A,D,E, and used them interchangeable, but not the F or G stamped carb's Ask Mark if a A, D, or E would sub or his opinion of yours, etc. I've bought and seen and...

Chain locks up, smoke from clutch, chain and bar suddenly super-tight

You need to immediately stop trying to put the saw to work. (and fis the issue) You say the clutch area smokes. I've seen this happen and the OP would just keep on trying to use a saw and eventually get so hot at the clutch drum area that it would heat bake and ruin the case behind the clutch...
