Stihl 362c not cutting at tip for limbing

It sounds like it’s a chain with safety bumpers , when it goes around the tip the geometry of them raises the bumper above the tooth so they can’t cut

    Rim Sprocket Wear?

The thing you don't want to happen is let it wear down until the drive teeth on the chain start contacting the crankshaft spline, up until then I wouldn't worry about it

Waste motor oil as bar oil

Don’t get confused now and run off at another tangent, if you have something that shows new bar oil to be carcinogenic then I’d and many others would love to see it?

Waste motor oil as bar oil

I looked up a few bar oils on some materials safety data sheets and it is not carcinogenic , everybody but a few know that the exhaust gases from 2 strokes are toxic also , that is common knowledge, if you have some data that shows bar oil to be carcinogenic please share it.

Waste motor oil as bar oil

most people want to reduce their consumption of toxic things, not increase them

Waste motor oil as bar oil

No, new bar oil is not carcinogenic, if you have ever cut near water you would have noticed oil getting on the water, you can't see it, it is a mist, it's floating around in the air, you are indesting it in whether it's attached to fine sawdust & you're breathing it in or skin contact, most...

Used motor oil is a known carcinogen & some of you lot want to breathe that stuff in by using it? Are you in full control of your faculties?

The "Not So Pro" discussion thread...of course Pros are welcome!

I only stated it’s something he shouldn’t make a habit of, running forward under load is always the best option

The "Not So Pro" discussion thread...of course Pros are welcome!

I'll be more specific, track pins , bushes & sprocket wear is accelerated by running loaded in reverse, in forward motion the bush engages the bottom of the sprocket and doesn't rotate on engagement, when the bush reaches the top of the sprocket it rotates off the sprocket , but isn't loaded...

The "Not So Pro" discussion thread...of course Pros are welcome!

It looks like you're snigging backwards pulling off the blade, to lift the log ends, if you make a habit of it, it will wear out the track bushes & sprockets quicker , as the tracks are meant to be loaded in forward motion

Waste motor oil as bar oil

You might as well have written that in Swahili, the gringos wouldn't have understood one word of it.

    Rings old new

What is the ring end gap? And what is the ring end gap of the same saw at 50:1 that's done exactly the same amount of work?

    Rings old new

I don't have any problems with carbon, tuning has nothing to do with what I am talking about, it's the oil in the fuel mixture and burning oil produces carbon, fuel & oil mix goes in one end & carbon comes out the other. one of my jobs many moons ago was to monitor GM & CAT gensets, they used to...

    Rings old new

Rings needs a microscopic amount of oil for long life, 2 or 4 stroke, oil burnt on the cylinder walls creates a carbon rich compound, carbon is an abrasive, more oil = more abrasive, less oil = less abrasive . Power and ring seal from more oil is a different matter completely
  17. B

    Rings old new

Why? Don't you know how rings work in relation to excessive oil on the cylinder walls?

My answer for the flipcap problem.

Just think of it as an IQ test every time you fuel the saw up, some have problems with them and some don't. PS you won't get one to work if the fluid level inside the tank is too full

    Sharpening after hitting a rock.

I might even have a chain hanging in my shed that I used untill all the cutters were gone on one side , I naturally file a little heavier on one side so that side snaps off first when the teeth are past the witness marks and the other side isn't, when the number of teeth starts getting low I...

    Sharpening after hitting a rock.

For a couple of damaged teeth & a different length it would be impossible to tell the difference, the very nature of the hit and miss cutting of the teeth into the timber hides any differences
