    Finally got my new saw!

I lube the clutch bearing with 2 stroke oil from a pump can. I use the same can during engine assembly and a few squirts extra in the tank during break-in. I always felt grease was a bit too viscous for clutch bearing

No wonder we are a throw away nation

Because they don't buy local when they assemble them. I bought 20 lr44 blister pack from a us eBay seller for$2.95. No name, but they work. Pretty hard to screw up producing an alkaline battery

    Anyone ever seen this?

It's dieseling. Combination of compression, heat, and octane. Higher compression increases potential as does higher temps and lower octane. I would think there is something very wrong with the saw to diesel with pump grade. How does the p/c and ring look? Are there any obvious spots that are...

    Best 70-80cc Saw?

I see lightly used 372's around here for $500-600 occasionally. I bought mine well used and put$ into it. Overall about $500 into that saw and it's a beast to be reckoned with! It ain't pretty, but I wanted the pre-x torque. I know around here I can't touch a stihl for that price. They are nice...

    Limits of bent bar

Floated glass is perfectly flat. Place it on a flat surface do it doesn't bend (ie cast iron saw table) and use it to gauge your progress

    Pre ignition in saws...

162hp on dyno or was that the rating on the engine stock? You calculate the pipes on paper or with software? I calculated pipes for my v65, but never got to the build. Took an evening to do all the math on paper! Nice build. Must be scary as hell in that chassis though!

    Too much compression?

Yeah, the 262 cylinder had a decent crown to it. I'm surprised it is this high without popup

    Too much compression?

What is your end gap? Your air density is about 78kPa, while mine is about 100kPa

    Too much compression?

I got 185 and was pleased, then I realized the de-comp was in. I re checked with it out and got 215. Why did you sand down the jug to add a gasket? Seems redundant

    Too much compression?

Really? Why would it be ok for my chainsaw, but not my bikes?

    Too much compression?

Ok, I just finished a jug drop and mm on a 262xp. Squish is .0195. End gap is .008. Pressure cold is 215 psi. I expect more once it is broken in. Will the bottom end take it? What octane? I have been filtering out the ethanol from 93, leaving me with 90. I suspect I would need to keep it at 93

    Whats your Opinion? Customer maintenance

Always be honest, but remember that offering to do extra work looks suspicious to customers that don't know what you're talking about. You want to give them all the information without them thinking that you're trying to take him for a ride. It helps to offer up pictures or offer for them to...

    Quick impulse line question

I always keep some permatex right stuff sealant in the shop. I've used it to seal plastic carb nipples on vintage saws. Works great and is elastomeric, so it can deal with the vibes. It is a decent glue, but much less permanent than epoxy. I haven't found an application this stuff doesn't work...

    Work saws

The only one I have a pic of. 372xp, wears 24". Keep a 20" on the 262, and an 18"on the 346. None of then are pretty

    High speed .325 on 372?

It looks like Husky makes a large mount .325. I want a20" bar for the 372 anyway. I would run round ground chisel most the time

    High speed .325 on 372?

Wow, nk? You guys took it even further than what I was thinking. I will calculate the torque and match that of a sub 60cc pro saw with a7 pin. I'm thinking 3.5hp base.

    High speed .325 on 372?

Anyone running a short bat with narrow chain on a larger saw with large rim? I need to do the torque calculations, but I expect that the chain would handle the power so long as it is converted to speed by reducing torque with a large rim. Thoughts?
