    Jonsered Chainsaws

Finally finished putting my "new" Jonsered 361 together (also known by virtually every other brand name available at the time under various model numbers and different colors). I bought this little fella off eBay just because it looked like a solid little trimmer, and I didn't have one. It was...

    Antique saw thread

Would anyone happen to know of a crankcase bearing part number (or raw dimensions) that would fit the AH47 engine in an old Sears & Roebuck saw (one of those 917.xxxxx, don't have the number here in front of me)? I have it torn down pretty far but haven't pulled the seals and bearings yet. I...

Nice looking 621. A little weather checked, but pretty solid.

    Homelite Chainsaws

Just finished a complete teardown on this old girl. One of the seals and main bearing assemblies were shot, compression was low. Since I had to tear it all down to do the rings, I said hang the budget, might as well freshen everything up since it's just as easy to put back together. I ended up...

Bottom doesn't seem to have a hole for the oiler adjustment, either.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

What is... uhh... was that? A very crusty 50? The secret to eBay is when in doubt, just slap the word "collectable" on anything and wait, I guess.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Is that a 3D printed flywheel fin assembly? Kinda cool. I've been wondering about the viability of printed parts that are getting hard to find. Like, I wonder if the material would be strong enough to make starter pulleys for the old Remington Mighty Mite century series that always got chewed up.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Heavy, definitely, but it fills the gap nicely between the 521ev which can be just a bit light for bigger hardwoods, and the 801, which is a gas guzzler and a beast to horse around.

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Latest addition to the fleet. Jonsered 621. Seems to have low hours. The paint isn't even worn off the bottom or the rear handle. 185lbs+ PSI and a big fat spark, so the bottom end didn't need anything. There was no starter, top handle was bent into where the starter should go. Looked to have...

    Remington Chainsaws(including Mall chainsaws)

Ha, yeah, I went out one day to find it had dumped all the remaining oil out. I think the replacement oil line I used is too stiff to be shut off consistently. I'd fiddle with it more, or maybe put in a shut off valve, but for now the oil tank is so small I don't mind just pouring it back into...

    Remington Chainsaws(including Mall chainsaws)

As much as I've posted my bigger machines, the humble trimmers always have their place in my collection, too. So here's my little Mighty Mite... uhh... cobble job between a 400, 500, and 600. It was free and came with a parts saw. The oil tank duckbill had failed and filled the crankcase...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Commemorating this past weekend with the first tree I got to cut with the Jonsered 801 since I pulled it from the scrap heap. 21-22" hemlock out back where we're clearing space for a polebarn. Although hardly the first tree it has cut in its previous lifetime, I'm quite sure. Also, dad for...

    Remington Chainsaws(including Mall chainsaws)

Awesome, thanks. I knew I had bought something similar from somewhere years ago, but absolutely could not think of the name. That's the one.

    Remington Chainsaws(including Mall chainsaws)

I recently acquired a Remington Bantam, 1959. It's in ok shape overall, but the pump diaphragm is gooey and seems partly melted. Probably from sitting in bad gas, the carb was varnished pretty hard. I was wondering if anyone knew of a place I could source a diaphragm kit? Or, failing at that...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

Mac 2-10 A little rough around the edges, as you can see from the dowel handle and flaking paint. But it runs nice. ...when it runs. I didn't want to take a picture without knowing it ran (it ran last year), so I cranked it over yesterday... nothing. Didn't seem to be sparking under...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Here's a project from last year. A little Homelite XL-101 that I picked up from a yard sale for maybe five bucks. I ended up swapping the handle assembly to the later part number which had different threads for the idle screw, which also replaced the epoxy oil tank cover with the bolt-on...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

I have used one of those, but only as a last resort when I was dinking around with a little Remington. Couldn't find a working "all in one" electronic ignition module + coil, and couldn't find points, so I swapped in a standard coil and put in a Nova 2. They work but... seems like they just...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Kept the original with the single ring. It looked pretty new, no tracking or scorching, and the cylinder I took off looked like it had been replaced (with a really bad silicone job), so it wouldn't have surprised me if someone replaced the piston at the same time. It gave me 150-160lbs after the...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

And way more available. Since the 49SP was such an odd duck, coils and points are not common, at least in my area. I did consider cutting the arms off to fix the clearance issue, but I decided "hey, maybe some day I'll find a 49SP with a good coil but a whipped cylinder", so I just swapped it...

    Jonsered Chainsaws

Hi all, Thought I'd chime in with my little trio of Jonsereds. Up top is a 50 (or it started life as 50, anyway), $10 garage sale find, which had whipped crankcase bearings, so I swapped everything out on to a 52 crankcase. Middle is a 521EV which I've had for about five years now and used...
