Stihl 026 was hard to start

. Tighten your carb boot clamp! I know it's been said many times but I'll say again what a great resource this forum is! Thanks to everyone who has contributed to this database of knowledge. I'll try to give a little back here. My saws don't get used near enough and couldn't get the 026 to...

    Bear carving with 066 :)

Thanks all. Carving is a little stressful and it probably took me three times longer than it should have...you're always afraid to cut off too much. I'm happy how it came out and have gotten a lot of comments...and trust me, I have very little artsey ability, I operate on the blind squirrel...

how do you transport your wood out of the forest?

It pulls it in 3 or 4 low mowing the yard (not tall grass). 36hp is at the low end of what the mower wants. With a 706 I'd say your splitter had better be strong. Does the 706 have a 1000 pto? You could run at 1/2 rpm. What kinda worries me about tractor splitter is using $50/day in fuel to...

how do you transport your wood out of the forest?

Thanks Jakers. I've been watching pto driven log splitters on CL, how do you like yours? The 424 mainly moves trailers around now. Once or twice a year it pulls the batwing to blow out the cobwebs. before I resto'd... after. My grandpa bought this 424 new in '67 (year I was born)...

how do you transport your wood out of the forest?

    Bear carving with 066 :)

For your viewing amusement... My first chainsaw bear. Used the 066, 026, and 011avt. 066 gets heavy but really gets rid of wood quick. It was a six hour job and I was beat at the end. The large maple had died so I figured make lemonade, if it doesn't come out I can always flush cut...

$20 Harbor Freight wireless driveway motion sensor. Sensor in the detached garage, receiver in the bedroom. Rude (but welcome) awakening if it goes off. .

    Reminder to be careful!

I'll bump this thread... Dropped the scariest tree I've ever tackled back in October. 3-4 year dead tree back in our woods by the bonfire area that I was worried would fall on someone (or their truck) so it had to go. First time I ever asked someone to come back and watch me in case something...

Need help picking the correct saw for me.

I'll second the cheap backup saw idea. Stuck/pinched saws can slow you down. I like Stihl because they have the best dealer network for parts. When in doubt I take my 036.

025 Stihl. What bar and chain to get?

You also have to remember on smaller Stihls an 18" bar has a 16" cutting surface. My 16" 026 can use my old 18" 025 chains....

    066 9T rim sprocket

Saw is stock except for factory dual port. Just wanted to experiment with a 9T 3/8 on a 16-20" bar for more chain speed. It has an 8T now and I think the saw has the power to drive the 9T on a short bar. Not going to get into cutting bar heels though. Bob

    Where can I buy one? 3/8, 050 9T or 10T

    Stihl pole saw question.

You must be a more helpful dealer than ours. I buy a fair amount of parts from them but think they would politely decline to offer that info...

    Stihl pole saw question.

Except I've got one with points that runs perfect and one w/o that won't make spark with two different coil/wire sets... I'll check out your post.
