    New saw

Ended up with a 261 and I like it. Light comfortable and solid rand 2 tanks through it today. Pretty happy camper

Coolest or rarest wood you have milled

Yeah it’s a big old silver. Loved milling it. I have a few of the branches and another large piece of trunk from another tree from the same property still to mill.

    New saw

My brother in law runs a 462, it’s an awesome saw. If I didn’t just buy myself 2 suppressors I’d consider spending another $700 on the 462. Probably on the larger side for what I need though. I wish the 362 had a better power/weight ratio and a better reputation. Seems most people agree with the...

    New saw

They seem ok, some parts are kinda cheesy, log dogs are tiny and there’s only one of them. More plastic than I’m used to I guess. I’m worried I’m gonna think it’s gutless after running bigger saws lol

    New saw

Looking for a lighter 50-60cc saw that will Still pull a 20” bar. I’m partial to Stihl’s (have an 880 that I love but use mostly for milling and big bucking) and was looking at the ms261 or ms362. Currently have a rancher 455 As my medium duty bucking saw and I’m not too fond of it. My wife...

********WHAT AGE DID YOU FIRST START USING A CHAINSAW????

I bought my first saw at 15. We lived in a fairly urban area, grew up in a 4bed 2.5 bath house on a half an acre in a neighborhood. Once I could drive I went and scrounged wood, split and sold it.

    Pear wood: worth it?

Welp, this ended up not happening, he sent some pictures over before I left and it ended up being a pin oak not a pear... not sure how the 2 were mixed up

    Pear wood: worth it?

Thanks for the input... it’s probably worth it for the smell alone! I’ll pick it up and keep you guys posted. Maybe I’ll try and grab some branch wood as well for the smoker

    Pear wood: worth it?

The only reason I’m even considering it is because of the size. A 28-30” pear is massive around here. Plus it’s a half an hour there half an hour back... I’m probably going to go get it. Guy says he’ll load it on my flatbed for me. Worse case is I block it and toss it in the firewood pile.

    Pear wood: worth it?

Hey all, got a call from a tree guy I’ve gotten logs from before. Says he’s got 2 10’ long ~28”-30” diameter pear logs coming down next Monday. Never milled pear or seen it for sale. Is it worth an hour drive? Any help would be appreciated!

Would You Rather Make Cake or Pie? (It's not what you think it is!)

I picked pie, I burn in a fireplace and sell mostly to fireplace burners. Most of my customers are either old or they’re fancy pants city folks so they tend to like smaller pieces. I split cake style but instead of leaving them square I smack them once from corner to corner with the fiskars. I...

A little Ambrosia maple this weekend

Thanks! It’s hard work milling slabs this size, especially in Some one else’s yard. Hope it’s worth it in the long run! Lol

A little Ambrosia maple this weekend

Yes sir, silver maple. Going back this weekend to mill the other forked log. Depending on the rot in the long one it might get turned into firewood.

A little Ambrosia maple this weekend

Milled up this ambrosia maple on Saturday. Came out awesome. I still have the logs in the pictures below to mill. Even the leaders are 24+ in diameter. Luckily I stumbled on his ad on Facebook before someone could get at them and turn them to firewood. I’ll post more pics as I...

My $65000 cigarette lighter (Powerstroke diesel)

Got it back the 30th of April, that’s the first receipt. Second is from the previous owner, note the mileage in both. 63k for the fuel system and 74k for the long block. So in the past 11,000 miles this truck has had $20,000 worth of work. Pretty wild for a 2014 if you ask me. The truck...

My $65000 cigarette lighter (Powerstroke diesel)

Those are real vehicles people came to bid a ~$25k slate roof repair/ replace. I’ve had people take the bus or the train to bid rough plumb ins for whole houses we were building... bottom line is people care what you drive most of the time, it reflects on you as a business owner. My firewood...

My $65000 cigarette lighter (Powerstroke diesel)

Unfortunately that’s Part of the game, when I’m getting prices from roofing subs and they pull up in a Camry with a wheelbarrow in the front seat or a beat ass f250 leaking oil, It’s gonna be a no go from me.
