Helping a family choose another saw

Saw for the brothers I read every post and agree with most of what was said. You mentioned that they cut mostly oak, same as me. I have ran most of the saws mentioned. My opinion is to make the most of the non-running Stihl by selling it or trading it in and to save an extra dollar or 2 if they...

Help me get my father in law his dream saw.

MS361 or Jonsered Don't forget to look at the Jonsereds. Often you can get a better price on a CS2153 (346xp) or a CS2171 (372xp) than what you can find for a Husqvarna, and if pops has been running an older saw he may like the straighter handlebar of the Jonsered better. My vote would be for a...

    2159

2171 I just wanted to chime in. Good thread. I have a 2171 and a 2153 and I can't think of a better combo for firewood. You did well to pay the extra for the 2171, much faster cutting than 2165. When it comes to cutting 10-24 hardwood into firewood I think the 2171 is the perfect tool. The more...

    Help with new chainsaw purchase

small saw For the size saw you want a 345 Husky would be great. They are very nearly the same power as the 350 for considerably less money. The MS250 Stihl is a pain to operate. I have a Jonsered 2153 and if you don't mind paying more is really the way to go. The 2153 is the same as Husky...

    What chain for 28" 372xp

I ruined the 28" chain for my Jonsered 2171 today. What would you all recommend as a replacement. I cut strictly hardwoods. A lot of Oak some Hickory, Locust, Etc. I don't use the 28" bar unless I need it. Usually use a 20" Bar with Stihl Chain.

Stihl MS-250 & "Bang per Buck" saws

50cc 16" saws I own Stihl MS250, Echo CS370, and Jonsered 2153. My son and I cut wood today, 2 Echo's, a Stihl, and 3 Jonsered's to choose from. 3 Jonsered's went to the timber, all others stayed in the shed. That being said the MS250 is gutless and absolutely miserable to operate. For about...

    Echo CS8000 experience

Bigger, better, faster If you want a replacement for your CS670 I don't think you'll do any better than a 372xp/2172. Incredible power, fair price, fair weight, great antivibe. If you want a more "moderate" saw like your Echo then go with the 365/2165. I have ran both of the Jred models and for...

    Need a saw recomendation

Cs400 For what you want be sure not to miss the Echo CS400. It's a new model of saw and should be perfect for what you want, plus they have a 5 year consumer warranty. I have a CS370 which is slightly smaller and it is the easiest saw to run that I own. Perfect for limbing, starts easy, great...

    Stihl MS250

Why not Echo I own a Stihl, Echo and a couple of Jonsered Pro saws (MS250, CS370, CS2153, and CS2172). For a homeowner/firewood cutter you can't beat and Echo for the money. Fantastic anti-vibe, easy to start, and a 5 year warranty. That new CS530 should be the answer he's looking for, of a...

    MS250 or MS290

2 poor choices I own an MS250, its a nice saw as long as you never run a better one. For $380 you could do much better. Those 2 Stihl's will be harder to start, vibrate more, etc. than several from other manufacturers. I'm sure Stihl makes some great saws in their higher priced ones, but the 2...

    Chainsaw recommendation (Stihl, Husqvarna)

Husky 365/372xp This is a good thread. We own the J'red versions of 3 saws mentioned here. One of my sons has a 2165, and I have a 2153 and a 2172. For some people they may like the 365 better. It is a seems to us to be a little bit "calmer" saw than the 2172. By that I mean the 365 is a little...

    Another newbie out shopping

Cs2153 I just picked up my CS2153 Jonsered today. $450 from local dealer. I loved the power and anti-vibe of the 346xp, just couldn't deal with the handlebar angle. I am thrilled with the Jonsered version. Like one poster said they will outcut a Stihl MS260 all day long. Something else that I...

    Another newbie out shopping

A couple more to consider Hello, I am fairly close to you here in Carlinville, IL. If you don't like the grip angle of a Husky maybe you would consider a Jonsered which is basically the same saw but with more normal ergonomics. I had a 346XP and they are very strong and nimble. I will be...

    Makita 6401 or stihl 361

There are other saws I recently lost all my saws in a fire. That gave me the oportunity to try something new. I bought 1 Echo, 1 Stihl, 1 Jonsered and 1 Husqvarna. If I had to let one of them go there would be no question, it would be the Stihl. The Echo is the nicest saw to run, and quite...

need help choosing replacement for 346xp

I had a 346XPne and loved the power and light weight. Unfortunately I crushed that saw (stupidity). Anyway I hated the handlebar angle of the Husky. I do like my Stihl and Jonsered. So what model of Stihl or Jonsered would best replace the 346? I want the same thing I had in the 346, a very...

    Husqvarna 357XP and Stihl 361

Another option I was looking for a saw in the same class and decided that for a small difference in weight and a considerable increase in horsepower that the Jonsered 2172/Husky 372xp was the best choice. The sheer power of these saws is amazing. The price is soon forgotten after a few ear to...

    For Sale cheap 346XPne

Now you tell me That is so obvious, I don't know why I didn't think of that. I guess because I have cut them out before with no damage. Anyway it's broke and for sale. Someone can put it back together and have a great saw cheap, I'll take my losses and buy another one.

    For Sale cheap 346XPne

Stupid hurts and today I was stupid. I got my 346 stuck in a cut and cut it out with my bigger saw. Long story short tree butt fell on the 346. Rear handle, chainbrake, and gas tank are broken, muffler is dented, front handle is slightly bent, engine is fine. This saw runs perfectly, has had...
