    034 2 step shuffle contiues

Did the clutch side yesterday. No problem and pressure/vac held. If it weren't for the fact I already pulled the fly wheel I'd leave the fly wheel side alone. It's open and clean might as well go for it. Later.

    034 2 step shuffle contiues

I've got the seals. Just didn't want to tackle that fly wheel side. Really tiny area to work in. Gonna tackle it today. Thanks for the comments.

    034 2 step shuffle contiues

Got the jug all sealed up . Pressure test and the thing holds 7 lbs easily. Vac fails. Is it always the seals causing this? Did not change them, yet. Any thoughts?

    044 Jug

I will certainly do so if I have left overs. :) Right now it's IPL picture time.

    044 Jug

So I just buttoned up the 044 and presure/vac tested it. Held both. So, now to figure out where all these bits and pieces go. :)

    044 Jug

Thanks for the replies. Was thinking to just button it up and test but getting Dirko HT first. I have an 034 that I just buttoned up but it's leaking at the front gasket. New gasket on the way and I will probably Dirko that one too. I'm willing to bet the 034 jug has the same concave...

    Stihl 034 top end rebuild

Mine was stock and badged 034. Didn't say anything about being a super. Measured the piston and much to my surprise. I'd measure that piston before you order anything.

    044 Jug

So I'm on the verge of putting this 044 back together (mentioned in a couple other posts). I put a straight edge on the bottom of the jug and find that all around each mounting hole is concave. In other words, I see light under the straight edge between the mounting holes. Is this normal...

    Stihl 034 top end rebuild

I was working on an 034 that I thought was a 46mm. Turns out it was a 48mm. So, have you pulled the jug and measured the piston yet? Just curious.

    044 wrist pin

Went one step further with the screwdriver, put a notch in it. I was trying to use the screw driver as is but when I did that's when the clip made it's great escape. 30 sec. with the new screw driver and home free. :)

Those pesky itty bitty 10mm circlips

During the process of trying to get that clip in, I did try to push it in with that little screw driver. That was about the time it did it's zip away. Well, what now. So after some suggestions from others I put a hook in that screw driver and what do you know. Used one of the old clips (no...

Those pesky itty bitty 10mm circlips

Trying to get these little buggers on an 034. Got one side in after a struggle, mounted the piston on the con. rod and tried the other side. Chased that thing a few time across the garage and after awhile, bent it. So, while I wait for more to arrive, can any one tell me how to install that...

    044 wrist pin

So I switched gears -- wanted to see how hard/easy the 034 pin was to set. Went in like greased goose dodo. :) So I decide to work on the 034, after all it's gotta get put back together too. First circlip I worried in. Not easy since it's a tiny little thing. Put piston on the connecting...

Guess I'll hit this tomorrow. Night all.

    044 wrist pin

It's a 12mm saw. Pin and bearing go into the connecting rod just fine. It's tight going into the piston. Meteor piston so the pin and piston are mated.

    044 wrist pin

Trying to put the wrist pin in. Doesn't go easy and afraid to force it. I did heat the piston (heat gun) and put the pin in the freezer. No special tools here. So what tricks, secrets, what to do and what not to do? Hope all is well and have a great one.

    Flush Crank Case

Despite my best efforts, some crud got into the crank case while the jug and piston were off. Best way flush that crank?? Hope all is well.
