    I'm getting a 441 soon!

I am Going to be getting a 441 soon. I have a couple questions. First of all how good of a deal is $700? I had the previous guy talked down to $660, but he left the saw shop. Is $700 anywhere near the dealer price? Second is the more important issue. I am interested in the C-Q technology. I am...

Now I have a big decision to make

I received a call this morning from a local tree service that I put an application in at a couple months ago. They are a really good, ISA certified, experienced company with a handful of employees. I want the job so that I can learn the ropes of the tree service industry....BUT I have a problem...

    renting a processor?

Thanx for the reply, yeah I saw that ad too in Northern Logger, but boy that sounds really steep. At that price it takes a huge chunk out of the already small enough profit margin. Definitely looking for something cheaper than that I think, but who knows, maybe if I do the math and can stage a...

    Check this tree out!

Looks like maybe the creek has since dried up? It probably sent new leaders down deeper as the soil eroded from around the upper roots. Kinda cool though.

    renting a processor?

Has anyone here ever rented a firewood processor? Or does anyone know where I could rent one? I am willing to travel to get it, but not more than a couple hundred miles from 14826. Any ideas are appreciated.

Another Day A Few More Trees!

You always have great pics and it's really neat to see how loggers elsewhere do things. Everything in your operation seem very similar to here in western NY, so its cool to see some familiar stuff. Are you the faller and someone else owns the skidder? If so where did you learn to fall trees...

Best method for bucking 8-cord logpile?

You have a few options here depending on what tools you have at your disposal. 1. cut the logs from the ends inward. 2. spread the logs out with a loader or grapple. 3. pull the logs off the deck one at a time with a winch and use a timberjack. If you do decide to cut them on the pile...

Another Day A Few More Trees!

Looks like another job well done. Looks like a lot of dark heart wood in the hard maple, and the poplar as well. Was the price very decent? how many bf was it? I love cutting big tulip poplars as well. Were those over 100' tall? That one is huge. Looks like the sap is flowing real good now...

Treehouses: Anyone ever advise for those and trees?

The site probably got hacked. As far as the treehouse, that is awesome! Looks well built. So what was your role in it? Advisement for the homeowner as far as tree health, etc?
