    bogging down

There is a screen in the exhaust that can get plugged with carbon causing loss of power and bogging. Either clean the screen regularly, or do as I do and throw it away.

What kind of wood is this?

It looks like Poplar sp.to me also. The dark wood is likely from a fungus.........that probably killed the tree from the looks of it.

    Greenteeth vs. Yellowjacket Teeth

They are both good.I would stick with the greens and order some extra teeth to have on hand.

Does Appearances Matter In This Industry?

Ya, I think a professional appearance is important. I have my crew wear matching T shirts and blue jeans (the dark blue hides soil and oil better). It goes farther than dress code though. Clean well maintained trucks and equipment. Nice bid sheets and invoices. Any way that you can set...

    philadelphia Arboretums

I will be traveling to Philadelphia next week, and would like to visit at least one Arboretum. I checked the web and there are many choices. I would appreciate some advice from someone who knows about the Arboretums in the area. What do you know about Bartrams Gardens? Others? Thanks, Mark

New tree show on TLC tonight

Because it is fun to watch, and it gets the ratings. TLC knows the show was getting a lot of buzz and ratings would be increasing. My guess is that the legal department made the call to pull the show after being contacted by ISA (and who knows who else). They don't want lawsuits from Paul's...

New tree show on TLC tonight

I can't believe some of you guys. This is just a TV show. Do you really think non arborists will see it as anything different? People are not as stupid as you give them credit for. I run a respectable tree service, I am an ISA Certified Arborist, and I am not threatened by Nosack's nonsense...

    Is this Black Locust?

I believe you have an American Elm there. We remove quite a few around here due to death from DED. Splitting is tough especially the wood close to a crotch, but it makes pretty good firewood. Many municipalities have restrictions on storing the wood with bark attached due to the spread of DED...

    Help With Root Prunning

I did that. Not a problem near the crack and the foundation it not damaged either. Like I said, I don't think the tree is causing the problem.

    Help With Root Prunning

Ekka, No, tunneling or vacuuming would not be an option. The reason the root pruning became an issue is because my clients neighbor believes the cracks in his garage floor are caused by the roots from my clients tree. I do not believe they are, but my client would like to appease his neighbor...

    Help With Root Prunning

I am an advocate for my client and will present my original recommendation for no excavation. I appreciate the helpful response from both John Paul and Treeseer and will read your suggestions for future reference. Thanks, Mark

    Help With Root Prunning

I am an experienced ISA Certified Arborist. This is a dispute between a customer of mine and his neighbor. I would like to be able to site a source when I make my recommendation. I need to find some published standards.

    Help With Root Prunning

Can anybody help me determine the safe distance from a mature Locust Tree that roots can be pruned? This is a neighbor dispute regarding a 32' DBH Honeylocust Tree in a back yard. There is a house as a potential target, so, stability is an issue. The roots in question are on the west side of the...

Slow this time of year for everyone else?

I was just telling the wife that I might have to get an unlisted phone number so I'll have some free time for golf. No, but seriously, here in Colorado we had snow on the ground for three months. It finally melted in early March, and the phone has been ringing ever since.
