The crack runs from the base up the main lead to the top of the tree. There are holes in the crack from insects.

Yup I cut down an oak in my front yard. It kept dropping huge limbs in the yard d and on my house. Had a lot of rotten limbs 6” diameter at base but still looked green on the ends. Now one in the back yard has a strip of fungus going up it and bark cracking

It is in Texas and it is an oak Do tree companies avoid doing this in the summer all together? I guess save trimming jobs for the winter only? Also will the suckers just come back?

Besides cutting out dead wood what would you do to this tree? I want to cut all the small branches from the bottom half of the trunk. What are your thoughts/ input?

anyone know which piece specifically? I have two ms200t saws that do this and I don't see how any of the orange pieces would cause it. I was thinking it was the white piece the position lever attaches to. maybe the cam the spring rides on is worn? I have nothing to compare it to.

I need a used bar 36" and chain too if you have one. If you have pretty worn one I could get cheap that would be great. Need it to cut logs up in the river now that the water is finally dropping down. Don't want a new bar for this job

That's a good idea, the lower branches can catch other limbs or least break their fall

That's cool, thanks for the explanation. I just thought they would get in the way of your top and the rigging. I also thought cutting all the limbs off was a way of dropping weight the tree would normally have to support which would make it safer when climbing to the top of pine trees where the...
