Want to Buy Stihl FS85 or FS80 trimmer

For an FS85 with really good compression, around $300.

Name of plugs that block off carb jet screws?

That’s good to hear. They just feel so darn loose and the idle screw in particular is so easy to spin. I’ll mark their locations with a sharpie and see if they move over time.

Name of plugs that block off carb jet screws?

That’s a good idea with silicone. This is probably a very rare adjustment and the first one in two years on this machine. Not sure how you get out silicone if needed but it probably won’t be needed.

Name of plugs that block off carb jet screws?

Looks similar to that. It has a high and low key screw but each was covered by a little white plastic insert. The low is straight down through the throttle toggle and the high is just above the incoming fuel line. I don’t see that in the picture.will try and attach a pic.

Name of plugs that block off carb jet screws?

I’ve got it tuned. I just want to reinstall the plugs so the screws don’t turn from vibration

Name of plugs that block off carb jet screws?

Thanks yes for a Husqvarna BT360 backpack blower. I know I’m in the chainsaw section but figured it might be a universal part.

Name of plugs that block off carb jet screws?

It's not a limiter like on an old Stihl. It's a plug that blocks the small opening entirely and way down deep. Still called a limiter?

Name of plugs that block off carb jet screws?

I had to make an adjustment to a carb with those little plastic plugs that keep regular guys from tinkering with the screws. I removed them but want to reinstall them so the screws don't turn anymore. I had to remove them with a heated drill bit. Can't seem to find then on line. It's not a Welch...

    Carb jets staying in place

I like the idea. If this were an older Stihl for example I could see how those would work, where the jet screws are external to the carb. In this case with my Husqvarna blower, the jet screws are tiny and down deep in a very thin hole. Limiter caps exist for situations like that? I can't find...

    Carb jets staying in place

Odd question but I needed to adjust the carb on my Husqvarna 360BT backpack blower and in order to do so I had to remove the little plastic anti tamper plugs in the adjustment holes. No problem but man the L jet is so easy to turn. I can barely feel resistance. I got it where I want it but I...

    A bit of a dealer/mechanic rant.

You should take ten minutes to call them on the customer's behalf and let them know how you handled it for them easily, and that they need to step it up. That is pathetic the way the handled the situation. It is all too common these days. Fewer and fewer professionals do a decent job, let along...

Compression tester contact with cylinder top?

I was mid renovation of an old 257 that I picked up. I’m basically to the point where I don’t know what’s causing the clank noise when compression testing, but I don’t trust the tester. It certainly doesn’t make the noise any other time. The compression feels good so that good enough for me I...

    Husqvarna 257 start up question

Mystery solved. The linkage input above helped a lot. It turns out the two bolts holding the air filter intake to the saw body had come slight loose. The right side one more than the left. This is important because the choke linkage is on the right side too and the little bit of play due to the...

    Husqvarna 257 start up question

Yes I read it and understand what you guys are saying. But it doesn’t always behave that way.

    Husqvarna 257 start up question

Could it have anything to do with how the T screw is set? Whatever that one is called. The non high and low screw. I did mess with that the other day but just enough to keep the chain from turning at the proper low rpm. I’m very confident the low and high screws are set just right.

    Husqvarna 257 start up question

Ya I get the high idle when it’s a very cold saw, like hasn’t been run in a week. It catches on choke and then I push it back in and then pull the cord again. When it catches then, it goes to high idle. These last few days since I’ve run it a bit it hasn’t been doing that even in that same...

    Husqvarna 257 start up question

So this old 257 I have had an interesting start up habit (I think). If it’s dead cold and hasn’t been used in a couple weeks, I will choke it and pull until it “pops” then I push in the choke and pull and when it fires up it runs at a pretty high speed until I pull the throttle and then it’ll...

Compression tester contact with cylinder top?

The ends look identical in depth to me.

Compression tester contact with cylinder top?

Strange clanking noise when I use the compression tester on my Husqvarna 257. Almost sounds and feels like the tester valve insert is making contact with the piston head top. Clank, clank, clank as I pull it over. Needless to say I stopped immediately. Doesn't look like it's any further inside...

    Carb tool for Shindaiwa

Thanks for replying. I think my small D tool was just rounded out or something. It’s a crummy design on that small D. Anything to keep a regular guy from working on his own equipment. I bought a new tool and it worked better. Wish it was just a flat head or spline adjuster
