Help for a Local Loggers Family

A local self employed logger was killed in the woods here in Vermont yesterday. Late last winter, while I was working out of town, my wife ran low on firewood and Ralph brought her wood out of his own woodpile so she wouldn't run out. His family is need of help for funeral costs etc. If anyone...

    Hi Ranger Repair Problems

Charlene, get the model number. IE: 5F-, 5H- etc. I believe we still have some manuals around. There is a special guage/tool for checking and filling the accumulator. Most tractor repair shops can do this for you if you don't have one.

    morbark 290

The only problem I used to have with the Cummins(4B3.9) in my Morbark was the starter. It had the Delco-Remy starter and would crack the nose cones on a regular basis. There was a coper strap that would fail a few times before the nose cone would fail. We used to keep spare straps on hand and...

Has this ever happened to you?

I USED to give Senior Citizen Discounts but we don't now. Most of the people that wanted the senior citizen discount lived in million dollar and up homes...and those that didn't were the first to complain about anything when the job was done. A friend of mine(in the excavating business) told me...

    We made a decision....

Any black walnut we cut goes in the firewood pile. No one wants to buy it around here, we sold some a few years back to a log yard and got less than white pine so it goess in the firewood pile now. I too am looking at the Englander 28-3500. $1300. at the local Home Depot.

    665A Upgrade Teeth?

Anyone using different teeth on their Vermeer 665A? I have heard of people switching to the newer style Vermeer teeth. Anyone running Green teeth on one of these units? I have a 665A with the old style 1/2" x 1/2" teeth and a 222 with the newer style teeth.

    Stuck drum chipper knives

I would think a pry bar would do it. If they are really stuck you may need to spray them with penetrating oil. You could always give Kuemmerlings a call and see if they have any ideas.

    Bucket truck pros and cons

Are you reffering to the bearings in the turntable for rotation? I thought mine were bad several years back and had a tech guy from CUES take a look at it. He pulled the cover from the turrett and had me lift the boom out of the cradle and rock it bak and forth and had a smirk on his face and...

Winches on the back of a chipper.

The winch was the best option I got on my 250 Bandit!! Especially now that I have the crane. We pick the piece with the crane lower it and attach the chipper winch to guide the piece as we set it down. Last week I got the chipper and 1 ton stuck crossing a field. The winch wouldn't pull both of...

DON'T TOP TREES!!!!! Personnally I feel that if you top a tree(and you are paid as a proffessional)and a sucker grows and fails and injures someone then you shuld be just as responsible as the homeowner but maybe more so since YOU are supposed to be the proffessional!!:angry2:

    What's the next step?

In N.Y. I think you will need to go through the N.Y.S. Insurance Fund for your comp insurance. I think you will find you will need to provide workers comp certificates on jobs even if you aren't legally bound to carry the policy. It will be an expensive policy but I think you are going to need...

So butchered - even Google Earth shows it

Maybe if you got their name and address out(there should be a list of names and addresses of people who have trees topped) and we could each send them an ISA flier on why not to top trees and maybe they will get the message and remove the tree.:chainsaw:
