Stihl av28 wood boss dies after 5 minutes

Can't remember for sure, but don't believe it idled right on it's side. The muffler bolt holes wouldn't hold it. I have heard of husky. Husqvarna isn't that great but none of them are.

Stihl av28 wood boss dies after 5 minutes

I use a Husqvarna. Would lack of a muffler cause this much trouble.

Stihl av28 wood boss dies after 5 minutes

It will run for 5 minutes and then starts bogging down. Take it off the log it speeds up again. Leave it on the log and it will die. The vent hose was new but I took it off anyway. Same result. The compression is ok. It has never had anything electrical done to it. It will restart but not easily.

Stihl av28 wood boss dies after 5 minutes

It has a new carb, fuel line and fuel filter, plug. One crank seal was replaced. What is most likely fix? Head gasket, other crank seal? Thanks

Stihl woodboss 28 brake and oiler problems

I replaced one crank seal myself. Never had any luck with two of the local small engine businesses. The pressure check sounds like the best way. When running it at high speed it fluctuates. I cleaned the fuel filter once. The fuel line seemed ok, but maybe it needs new stuff. Already replaced...

Stihl woodboss 28 brake and oiler problems

I sprayed both wd-40 and carb cleaner around the boot and cylinder and it never speeded up while running so it doesn't look like an air leak. Kept fussing with the low speed needle and throttle screw but just couldn't get it to keep running or it went to fast.

Stihl woodboss 28 brake and oiler problems

I had it apart once and I don't believe there was any hose clamp/tube in the cylinder. What is the impulse line. Thanks.

Stihl woodboss 28 brake and oiler problems

What's an intake boot? I put one new crankshaft seal in even though it didn't look like it was leaking.

Stihl woodboss 28 brake and oiler problems

I got one through amazon and the saw is up and running. Next problem is that I can't turn the idle down far enough for the chain to quit turning. I think I tried adjusting the low speed needle sometime back and didn't work.

Stihl av 28 wood boss assembly question

I popped the drum off and the cage went all the way in but I had to use lube otherwise it would push back out. The only groove is below the sprocket so the big snap ring doesn't have one?

Stihl av 28 wood boss assembly question

They are all the original parts. I took it apart to check the CS seals and left it sitting long enough to forget how it went back together. One of those "simple" things, ya know? I had the drum figured out and if you would have said needle bearings than that would have clicked.

Stihl av 28 wood boss assembly question

What is the drum and cage? It does look like it is sticking up to far.

Stihl av 28 wood boss assembly question

Hi, Can't remember where this washer and eclip go. A diagram shows it going on the top of bearing but doesn't look right nor does the clip look big enough. Thanks.

Stihl woodboss 28 brake and oiler problems

I think I found the answer. There is supposed to be a sprocket on the oil pump post and mine is missing. At least that is what another photo shows.
