    Too big for a 660?

I've ran a 50" bar on my 661 to slab some big Sycamore. It was slow-going but worked fine. Definitely need the auxiliary oiler. Sent from my moto g power (2022) using Tapatalk

Using longer chainsaw bar as suggested for milling

I'd pay to have it milled. It'll take you days to cut what a mill can do in a few hours. Chainsaw mills are fine for simple projects or wide stuff that won't fit on a mill but it's very slow and dirty work even with a big saw. I'm not trying to discourage you from buying a mill but there's a...

Would you recommend new 353 or 550xp

I don't have a 353 but I did just buy a 550 MK2 and it's a great saw. Plenty of power, very smooth and handles really nice. At the price you're getting, it would be hard to walk away from the 353. You really can't go wrong either way. The 3 series Huskies have been around a long time and are...

    Grab and go chainsaw kit

I like the echo hard cases. I have one for all my smaller saws. Holds everything I need except gas and bar oil (unless you buy it by the quart bottle.) My gas and oil get lugged around in an old apple crate. Sent from my moto g power (2022) using Tapatalk

2 saw plan for hardwood property

I say get the 261 with a 20" bar. Less bending over and it'll probably cut most of what you need it to. I like running .325 50 guage chain on my 50cc saws. It's smoother and less grabbey for limbing. Get yourself a good log peavey/jack too. They make life so much easier. As far as fuel, I run...

Talk me out of an Echo CS620P.

The 620 is a great saw. You won't regret buying one. Sent from my SM-A125U using Tapatalk

    Some small milling

Nice work Bob! I feel your pain on being unfit. I often ask myself why all my hobbies include more work! Guess I'm just not too bright. I haven't milled for quite some time now. Just been too busy with other things. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk

    48" bar and chain

I completely agree with everything you said! A smooth feed is much more crucial to getting a good finish than the type of chain used. I'm not downing the ripping chain but I feel the same. I do more cutting than milling and I don't see any difference so no need to mess with two different types...

    48" bar and chain

I ended up going with a 50" Cannon for my 661. Ordered it from AP's bar shop out of North Carolina. Expensive but the quality of the bar is excellent. I'm running 3/8 .063 skip chain for milling. As far as chain goes, I just run regular Stihl RS with fine results. I've ran the Woodland Pro...

looking to buy chain saw mill

I don't know if it's necessary but skip chain does clear chips better. Certainly recommended on longer bars. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk

    Bar options

I've never tried Stihl light bars but never heard any bad reviews. Pretty ****** dealer if they're not willing to order what you want. I got my 661 with the 36" standard bar and I wish I would've spent the extra for the light. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk

Best way to mill this burl

I'm thinking red. Could get some really nice grain from the crotch and burl together. I'd love to see pics of the finished product. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk

    Equipment advice for 50cc

Maybe look into one of these clone saws for about $300. Basically a 660 knockoff. Guys seem to be impressed for the price. As cuinrearview said, why risk busting up a good saw that just isn't up to the task. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk

    Huztl 36” saw mill

You'll need some type of rail to make your first cut. I've used a ladder or even a nice plank screwed onto the top of the log. I used this setup and it worked fine. If I'm going in the woods to mill, I just take a sturdy plank to screw down. You can also screw the ladder directly on the log...

    Equipment advice for 50cc

I think the .325 would suit your situation better. Smaller cutters so it requires a little less power than 3/8. I don't know if you can get .325 skip. I run Stihl RS chain for milling. Just keep it sharp and it does great. Your saw is a bit small and Hickory is hard as hell so just don't expect...

    Carhartt B07 Logger dungarees discontinued?

I pretty much gave up on the big brand names. Quality is **** but the prices are ridiculous. I buy Rustler anymore. About $10 a pair and they hold up very well. I actually think they're much better quality than Levi's and the other top brands. Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk

    Picnic table

Nice job Eric! My buddy and I made one a few years back. He needed a new table and I just got my mill so we went to town. It's a great project for getting your feet wet with milling! Nothing like the satisfaction of DIY! Sent from my Moto E (4) using Tapatalk

    Double ended milling bars

I love my Cannon. I'm running a 50" regular bar on my 661. They're expensive but definitely worth the cost. Built very heavy so you don't get any flexing which is important on longer bars. They also have a nice belly which helps keep the chain tight and running true. I ordered mine from AP's bar...
