    Best Firewood Based on Aroma

Cedar. Fast & E-Z to cut . Both my neighbors commented on how good it was smelling around here.

Was the 009 ever a good saw?

I'd be interested in knowing more about what you mean by properly built. From what little information I have seen on that saw if the air vane is by passed that saw will run 3000 rpm beyond where it is spec out . Seems it would blow up in a short time.

Stihl 066 Build (Split+Crank Bearings or Top End only?)

I highly recommend you try it. Combined with the increased compression of droping the jug you'll never settle for the lack luster performance of the stock configuration again.

Stihl 066 Build (Split+Crank Bearings or Top End only?)

Heres the mod to the carb. It should be pretty close I only cut off like 1/2 to 1 turn on the 066 . 19-20 psi is good . - - http://www.aerocorsair.com/id28.htm I highly recommend the factory DP cover as it has the screen & can be opened up quite a bit.

Stihl 066 Build (Split+Crank Bearings or Top End only?)

If you want to make that saw really come around check the squish with the thin gasket which is like .020 thick. Idealy we want a squish of .025 Machine off base as needed to correct. One note make sure your right to the edge of the piston .050 dia solder works fine. Put it in 2 different places...

    Stihl 090

Well guess I'd better sell off a truck load of seasoned oak to pay for it. I'll get some real funny looks from the boss if I dont do it that way. Think you know.

    Stihl 090

He He - I think what sold me was the video over on You Tube. Stihl 090G removing big sitka spruce part 1. Not familar on how to copy over the link to it so it displays here. Guess the only other question is do the non gear drives sound like that one or is some of the howling comming from the...

    Stihl 090

Really need something along the lines of a 50" bar . A 41" on the 066 is going to be on the short side for what I run into. Without it then I'm left with setteling for lesser quality wood. :chainsaw:

    Stihl 090

Found a 090 today that appears to be complete but not running. It only has the 1 inner dawg on it & right behind that it has been welded up. Looks like it's holding. The only piece on it thats real bad other than the repaired crack is the handle bar . Before I hand over $ 350 for it was...

    ms 361 with 24" bar

Muffler mod it run a 7 pin rim sprocket w full skip & turn the oiler all the way up.

Different bar than stock on 026?

3/8 chain with a 8 pin will be a dog. You have to swap out the clutch drum . Not sure if it can be done on that model.

Stihl 026 Woes...Can't Solve Flooding Problem.

http://www.aerocorsair.com/id28.htm - You need to hook up a pressure gauge as shown in the pic. There should be no leak down from 8 - 10 psi. Put a couple drops of solvent around the needle once the pressures applyed & look for bubbles. You probably just left some dirt there . Carb cleen...

    Ethenol Question

It showed up in Provo Utah in 1999. Either way just tach your saws so there not over reving or you get a lean seizure . If & when it comes it's nothing the magic screwdriver wont fix .

    Drive links and rim sprockets

Rather than adding a link machine the backside of the bar just so it clears. Its actually the prefered method as you want it close . On a 16" bar I can run either an 8 or 9 pin but not a 7 with the extra link.

If you could choose ony 2 chainsaws

    Either a 084 or 880 with a 42" bar & a 044 or 460 w 25" to start. Sometimes the 660 with 36" isnt quite big enough.

    Stihl 310?

$ 250 would be more like it but only if the bar's not all burnt up. Its a bit on the heavy side but with a muffler mod ends up being close to 5 hp. You will have to change over the clutch drum if you want to run a 8 pin rim sprocket. Makes a good midsized limbing saw .:chainsaw:

How's your wood pile coming along?

    Here's one of the locals making a big score . He's 82 years old & cuts every thing exactualy at 24" + or - .0001 . Far as I remember thats a 575 w/ skip.

How's your wood pile coming along?

This is just about a 3 years supply for around here as it rarely gets below freezin. 90% debarked oak. The resizing software I'm using isnt the greatest. :computer2:

    Breaking in dolmar 7900

Dont beleive its to rich as rpm is set quite a few hundred rpm over spec. That in addition to the plug looks fine. There is the possiabilty that mixing at 45/1 did'nt help matters . One thing I did notice is matching the exhaust port gasket in addition to the muffler is very important. Even the...
