    562xp dies after hard cut

2018 should have an EL48 carb, which is good. My 2014 with EL48 likes fast idle set to start, even when hot. My 2020 only wants fast idle when it is old.

    562xp dies after hard cut

Next question. What’s the year of manufacture of the saw? There have been several improvements to the 562xp over the years. The last 2 carb versions are a big step up from early models.

    562xp dies after hard cut

What temperature was it outside when you were cutting? When did you buy the gas? This sounds like the classic “first hot day of the year with winter gas still in the saw” The saw gets hot, the winter gas vaporizes in your carb, and you get a vapour lock situation. After it cools down, it will...

Husqvarna 550xp Mark II carb issue

I’ve never heard of vac testing a carb. A carb will hold pressure below the fuel pump needle, but It’s not going to hold vacuum on the top end of the carb. The various fuel vents will all leak air. That’s how a carb works.

    Splitter engine sizing

420cc is about 15hp. Overkill if the pump is not being upgraded.

Chain locks up, smoke from clutch, chain and bar suddenly super-tight

Check your brake band too. If your brake band is dragging (cracked, stuck partially on, dirt or sawdust packed behind it) then the friction on the clutch drum will heat it up and clamp harder on the clutch drum until it locks up. And check the bar sprocket tip.

    Advanced log splitter plumbing question

The pump maker I used offers both a 22gpm (recommend 12hp) and a 28gpm (16hp)model, but both have the same low vol/high pressure side at 0.465 cu.in/rev. And both come from the factory set to the same hi/lo cutoff pressure. If at high pressure, both are the same, then if 12 HP works for the...

    Advanced log splitter plumbing question

I just upgraded my splitter from 16gpm and 390cc to 28gpm and 420cc. The difference is very noticeable Pump Upgrade

562xp leaking bar oil from adjustment screw. Never run

The oiler adjustment screw has 3 positions that it locks into. The plastic has 3 saddles moulded into it and there is some kind of spring loaded locking mechanism that sits in one of the saddle spots. The screw head has to come UP to come out of the current spot and over the hump the next one...

I've about had it with pull ropes

Is the rope too short? Should never hit the end of the rope and can’t see how you would break a handle if you don’t.

    Safety glasses recommendations

I likely have 20 pairs of bifocal safety glasses. That’s not what I’m looking for. I am looking for full lense safety readers. I know they are (were) made as I have 2 pairs I was given, but I cannot find a source (and there are no markings on the ones I have)

    Chain cuts well, sometimes

That chain is going to come apart soon anyway. Too much file damage on the links. And you clearly need a new drive sprocket. It is chewing up the underside of the links.

    Safety glasses recommendations

Does anyone have a source for safety reader glasses? I was given a couple of pairs and love them, but have not had any luck finding a source for more.I can find all kinds of bi-focall safety glasses. That is not what I am looking for. A 1.5x reader is perfect for me for everyday use, both close...

    Chain cuts well, sometimes

Sounds like the bar rails need truing or the bar slot is too wide / needs to be closed up. The chain runs true sometimes, and other times it tilts and then does not bite properly.

DIY log splitter with electric motor

A standard two stage 28gpm pump is going to drop down to low vol (4-6gpm at 3600, or 2-3 at 1800) above ~600 psi. A 5hp 1750 electric motor should have no,problem driving that pump. As long as you realize best case is 8-10 second cycle time, not the 4-5 secs a 28gpm pump and 4” cylinder usually...

New Husqvarna 762XP Loses Power During Cut

What gas was used for the second tank? Canned fuel or mix. When was it bought, how was it mixed? Bad gas or straight gas could cause those symptoms. Different solutions depending on which.

    Best methods for splitting firewood

3 hours for 1/3 cord? You definitely need to be more efficient. A fiskars splitting axe should easily cut that down to well under an hour per face cord. 2 Fiskars in action

    Best methods for splitting firewood

What are you splitting? How much are you splitting? How much of a rush are you in? Are you in decent shape? I one hand a 2lb axe for kindling, use a fiskars for most blocks, and 6 and 8lb mauls for giant hard maple rounds.. That’s when I’m not using one of the gas splitters. There are smaller...

New Husqvarna 762XP Loses Power During Cut

I’m assuming it’s a 562xp. Sounds like your bar was pinched. What happened when you tried the next cut?
