Powerhead options for 60" cut capacity

Folks, I know this has been kicked around a few times....but I am finally going to up my cut capacity to a full 60+". I have a newish 661 and 461...both under 6 months old. I find the 661 to have ZERO problems in 36" hardwood, and I think the 461 would probably do it also, though I haven't...

    Blades for EG50

Anyone have Woodmizer's single blade edger? I have one I bought used, and the previous owner was using a double stack of table saw blades. If anyone has any blade recommendations, please share!

    Snakes in the woodpile

Anyone else have this problem??? Just a little timber rattler, but I know the diamondbacks are in there somewhere!!

I am dying to buy a Dolmar 7910....which bar??

I've got all the new Stihls I need(want) and want to get a new Dolmar. I have my sights on a 7910. I've got a Stihl 25" bar on the shelf that'd be a perfect fit. What do I need to mate it up? Is there a specific adapter?

I love TSC and vegoil sucks!

Freshly updated iggy list.... :D I choose dino oils: -I haven't died yet. -Vegoil is gummy and expensive. -The real polluters in the world trump chainsaws a million times over. That said, I don't hate the environment. I just recognize that we'll not change the world overnight.

    2008 timberking b20 value

Have a chance to buy one and wondering what it is worth. It has the computer controls, but the owner doesn't know how to use them. I'd not do much production work on it either, so they'd probably remain unused. Comes with 60 new woodmizer blades. It's got wear and tear, but I'm adept at simple...

    4218 / $99

Tractor Supply has 4218s on sale for $99. I know they don't have anywhere near the following the 5020 does, but I've yet to have any issues with mine. Just thought I'd share.

    Mtronic and fuel mixtures.

I'm confused on something... Everyone recommends a little more oil for milling....so if I were to run a 661C at 40:1 or 32:1, would the saw automatically adjust the air fuel ratio for the difference, or would I be running lean all the time? I run Stihl full synthetic in everything. I tend...

    Drilling bars, Stihl vs Cannon

So...I drilled my Stihl bar for an oiler the other day, mostly as practice for ultimately bolting my bars to the mills. With all the hoopla I read I thought the steel would be harder to drill than it was. I used a carbide masonry bit for the first hole, flooded it with cutting oil, and plugged...

Any good reads on the internet to help me get started?

    Pairing up a 461 and a 661

Anyone have any thoughts on how this would work as a dual-powerhead setup?

    Atlas 46

Check out this tool vest. Not made for chainsaw milling, per se, but a modular system for various trades. I'm thinking about trying one out. If it doesn't work for milling I'll probably find something else to use it for.

Want to go bigger...lets see your giant CSMs!

Ok, so I'm at 36" now running a MS661 in a Granberg MkIII (now with 48" rails for a full 36" cut with 50" cannon bar). That has the saw about tapped out, and in truth, it's probably a bit much in hardwoods. The 48" rails are nice though, much heavier than the smaller Granberg mills. How big...

    880 or 3120xp kit

I've been eying the Huztl kits, but I don't want to build a 660 as I already have one. Is there anything in the 120cc class that I'm not seeing?

    Refridgerator Kiln

Anyone using one for bowls or other small pieces? My wife and I built one this week to support her bowl making habit. I put a 100W lamp in each side (its a side by side) with a line level thermostat. I can get from ambient temp upwards of 95 degrees pretty easily. Humidity outside is about...

    My mills

Thought I'd share a couple pictures. Here's what I started with (just a few weeks ago), a Granberg small mill with a Husqvarna 460. A lot of misinformation out there on the internet would make you think a saw this size is ok for milling.. It's really not, IMO. The motor, I think, faired ok...

    Timber Tuff chainsaw mills

I haven't seen anything on these mills here. They look absolutely identical to the Granbergs. I'm pretty well set with what I have, at least until I stumble upon some more money, but I'm curious what's up with these. I bought my Granberg small mill new, and bought a used MKIII complete mill...

    MS661 oiler adjust

Does anyone know how you push in pin #2 to get the full range of the oil adjuster? I tried using the "L" shaped torx tool that came with the saw, and a number of other pointy things. Button won't move ?? Saw is just a couple weeks old. I must be missing something very obvious....

Saw recommendation for Granberg small mill

Ok, so my milling experience is slim so far. I first bought a Granberg small mill and put a Husky 460 Rancher on it. It worked, and I milled a good pile of cherry logs with it. However, it slows down exponentially at around 14" in hardwoods. 16+ you can just about forget it, unless you want to...
