Central PA GTG - Spring 2020

I might be up that way in April, so it would be a good chance to put some faces to names. Also might be able to scrape up a piece of moose meat for those that like that sort of thing!!:barbecue: Hopefully your date will coincide with my trip.

    "You Suck" Thread 2019--Pics required!

Got these 6 saws from a older friend who developed some medical issues and didn't want them to get tossed. Nothing special, but the old Echo 315 (which needs a new recoil drum) is intriguing to me. All run! My wife called me a hoarder, which I corrected as "collector"!! Gifted by FineFirewood...

Bar sizes for a Poulan Pro 5020?

I have a 5020 and the muffler is just a hollow can as it is. The only mod I did to it was drill a few holes to allow better breathing than just through the stock hole. I did tune it, and that made all the difference in the world! I run an 18" bar with a Stihl RC chain with no issues. Just gotta...

    Dolmar 117 Ignition

Looking for a little help and advice from the pros. I have an old Sachs-Dolmar 117 that was my father's. I had many hours working around that saw growing up while collecting firewood for our winter heat in Maine, so I'd like to get it back into working order to give back to him for sentimental...

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

I found a sticker with August 2016 on the side. Maybe just luck of the draw?

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

It did have the restrictors, but I removed them so I could tune it properly. I'll look at the stickers and literature to see if I can find anything resembling a date code. When did they start using the catcon in these?

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

It looked like the second picture on the CS 310 Muffler Mod thread http://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/echo-cs310-muffler-mod.262309/ I didn't take any pics before I started, but the end result is the same as that thread with just an empty can. I guess I got off easy with this one!

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

Bought it brand new Thursday from a local dealer. That's what surprised me with it not having a cat. Is there anything on it that may have a build date?

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

So, back on topic... I deflowered the muffler on my new CS 310 and noticed something...there was no CAT!! There was only a small "can" insert with about 4 holes in it. I managed to get that out so it now just has an empty can, opened the exhaust opening under the deflector, and drilled a 1/4"...

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

I posted the whole story in the Great Outdoors section. Good luck on the elk hunt!

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

Thanks. He was a big boy...931lbs dressed, 57" spread and good eatin!! Had a rough 4 days with 90 deg temps in northern Maine, but it finally came together when the frost hit on Friday morning. Got a roast in the crock pot for tonight!!

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

Guess I'll just dig in and have a look. I'll have lots of time while I boil a moose skull for a european mount that I shot last week! Thanks.

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

Thanks for the tip. How much more difficult is it to split the can rather than drill/dremel out the cat? I always wear ear plugs when running my saws, so noise isn't a problem with me. The neighbors on the other hand....at least they know to stay away!

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

Thanks for the replies. Looks like I'm digging into it sooner rather than later!!

New Echo CS 310 - When to MM?

Just got a new Echo CS 310 for limbing and light work. I know it needs a MM and retune to reach its full potential, but when should that be done? I haven't even put gas/oil in it yet due to other things going on, but it will see a lot of action in the next month or so clearing some brush and...

    Poulan Pro 5020 Switch Binding

So, I figured out the issue, in the "I'm An Idiot" manual, page 32, section "Stop Over Thinking"!! When lining up the choke rod with the kill switch, I ASSUMED tab "A" on the switch went into slot "B" on the rod...WRONG!!! First picture is the way I was assembling it, second is correct...

    Poulan Pro 5020 Switch Binding

Woke up with the flu Saturday morning, so I haven't been able to get out to the shed to take pics yet. I went out for a minute yesterday and saw 2 saws, so I figured it wasn't the best time to be messing with it!! Today's the first day I've been able to stay upright for more than a few minutes...

    Poulan Pro 5020 Switch Binding

Thanks for the advice. I'll check the choke rod hook out. Hopefully it's something that simple! I'm slaving away at the salt mine, so I won't be able to check it until tonight, but I'll provide more pics and let you know what I find. If anyone has any other recommendations, I'll check those...

    Poulan Pro 5020 Switch Binding

It's not twisted from heat. Before I tighten the carb mounting nuts all the way, it moves freely. The last 2 turns on the nuts pulls the whole thing to the side causing the bind. I thought something was getting pinched on the opposite side, but there is nothing. All gaskets are in place and not...
