    Homelites Baddest Muscle

Nice saws! Just for kicks... What do those saws weigh a piece? I suspect you'll use them for limbing saws?

Observations between 441/460 and the 7900

It all depends on what you like... I have two 7900's and they are all that and a box of crackers. They have serious grunt and the funniest looking saw that your friends will ever admire. They are however heavier than stated in their literature. I weighed my newest one when I first got it...

    Homelite 360 Smokes?

A question for the Homelite guys... I have a 360 that starts and runs like a champ but fogs like a crop duster. The muffler appears to be puking bar oil. What do I need to check?

    346XP ne vs. Dolmar 5100

There is a Dolmar dealer here in Billings. PM me if you want the address. They don't have a shop but the Ace Hardware in the Heights services Dolmar for them. As far as the NE346xp, Where did you find one? I know of a lot of the older 346xp's sitting on shelves but have yet to see a new...

    Stihl Chain Saws

    Running: 1 x 026 Pro 2 x MS361 (Both are Full Wrap) 1 x MS440 (Full Wrap) 1 x MS441 (Full Wrap) 1 x MS460 Not currently in running condition: 1 x 026 Pro (I just need to reassemble)

    361 spikes

True.... As in they are absolutely interchangeable. They line up perfectly. In fact, they are also interchangeable with the 440 and probably a few others with the one exception being the 460. It uses a different outside spike.

    Which saw, MS361-MS440

I'm not sure what you mean by the X60 models...? I think these newer more fuel efficient models are a little more finicky with regards to flooding. My experience with older saws is that even though you may flood them, you can either wait a few minutes or take them off choke and crank them a...

    Which saw, MS361-MS440

Some of these newer saws are a bit more finicky than the older ones. The old ones you used to set the choke and pull and pull and pull until it started to sputter. The 361 has a tendency to flood if you don't catch the first sign of "the pop." It can be very subtle. Either one of...

For those who've used both: less vibration on a 260 or 361?

Vibes on a 026/260? Those that complain of the vibes on an 026/260 maybe shouldn't be running a chainsaw in the first place. I'd hate to see what they'd think of my 460. Yes, the 361 may be a bit smoother. But there is a huge difference in power between the two. If you want a 20" get...

    No more 440's??...

You'll like the 441... It really is a great saw. Smooth, Torquey, and really sips the fuel. It has a noticably different power curve than the 440(more torque). With a 20" bar that thing is going to scream. I'd be comfortable running mine up to a 28" bar without any trouble. At that...

    POS ms361

I start mine cold with the decomp. Not that I need it, but I use it as a "pop indicator." Once that turkey timer pops out, click the lever up one click and they start on that next pull(I don't use the decomp for this pull).

    No more 440's??...

No offense Peter, but that is one of the dumbest comparisons I've ever seen. I think it all boils down to personal preference and intended usage. The 372 is a great saw and is a fantastic saw for those that use it, but to compare it to a 460 is a joke. Might as well compare it to a 880 and...

    Which saw, MS361-MS440

There are enough people hunting the few remaining 440's down that I suspect it is highly plausible that some of the reps have been trying to buy a few back to help a few those dealers that have the ability to move them. I kind of got lucky on mine... I walked in, saw it on the shelf, and...

    026 Pro Reassembly Order

I'm directing this at those of you that can reassemble one of these in your sleep. What is the most efficient order of reassembly? I dismantled this saw a few months back and finally have all the pieces and the new donor case. I have the case back together but rather than...

    Which saw, MS361-MS440

I like both... but my "go to" saw is still a 361. I don't notice much difference between the two. The 440 is only marginally heavier and handles the +20" better, but with a sharp chain the 361 is very fast in the sub 20" stuff. I do notice the weight difference when I step up to either my...

    A few Husky/Stihl questions

When I purchased my first ms361, price was just shy of $600. The Husky dealer wanted almost $50 more for the 357xp. I actually bought both my 361's off fleabay and I have not been disappointed. The 361 is my "go to" saw and I have quite a menagerie to choose from. If I had to choose a Husky...

Trade two for one???? 440's for new 441 or 460???

The 440 is a favorite saw for good reason... I wouldn't trade two running 440's for one new 441. I've bought new, I've bought used, the difference can be several hundred dollars difference and a few hours in the field. Shiney plastic doesn't improve the performance of a saw. That...

    thoughts on new saw purchase

I had no intention of offending you, Muley. In fact, your responses in this thread have been first rate. I even appretiate the fact that you find the 372xp a step up from your 361 even though I have not. Opinions are what opinions will be and my opinions are no more valid than yours. I...

    thoughts on new saw purchase

Wow, this thread kind of got nasty for a bit... I haven't run a 372xpw but I have run an older 372xp. If you are used to the torque band on the stihls the 372 is a bit different. My experience is that it had a real tendency to bog. I suspect someone who uses one all the time could get one...

    thoughts on new saw purchase

If you are looking for a step up from your 361... I agree you'll be disappointed in the 372 as it will be quite similar in power to your current saw with a cheaper feel. 441 Has a lot more grunt than any 372 I've run but a wee bit heavy. Nice firewood saw. 460 If you aren't worried...
