    Makita EA4300 Review

I really like my EA4300 and have had zero issues with it. I only use it as a limbing saw, but it stands head and shoulders above the Stihl clam shell saws it replaced. Any of my 346XP saws will easily out cut it, I just have a soft spot for it.

Mark, I have a place for you to stay as well, should you need a back-up plan. John

It's still marked out with "Crime Scene" tape from last year.😉

2023 PNW GTG is a Go!

Just started a new thread with the 2024 GTG information, but cross-posting here so that others may see it. Teva just informed me that the PNW GTG is a on and the dates are 6/13-6/16, which is Bob's (the host) birthday weekend. The location is the same, an easy drive about 8 miles West of I-5...

Teva just informed me that the PNW GTG is a on and the dates are 6/13-6/16, which is Bob's (the host) birthday weekend. The location is the same, an easy drive about 8 miles West of I-5 using one of the Springfield exits. This an equal opportunity gathering. All saws running or not, stock or...

Want to Buy Stihl MS460 Fuel Tank

Stihl MS361 - Need help choosing a good carb

I must be living right as the Brand X carbs I've used have functioned without issue. Stihl and Husqvarna don't make their own carburetors and what shows up on them today are made in China. The high tech company I worked for moved some of their manufacturing to China, as despite the specs you...

Anyone else watch the Dyno Joe Mods YT channel

https://www.youtube.com/@dynojoemods2764 I like to see real performance data collects, no mater who it shines or shames.

    Backwoods Barn Find

Currently my 361 is my ready go to 60cc saw and my 036, 362CM, and 562XP saws sit on the shelf. Stihl OEM cylinder walls are really tough and the pistons are the first to fail. I've cleaned deposits from a dozen or so cylinders that had trashed pistons, and nearly all of them were serviceable...

Stihl 023c Build to 026 Pro

A 024 has a magnesium lower, but the 023 is a clamshell type lower. A 024 has a shorter stroke than a 026, but the 024 Super has the same stroke as an 026.

    Bad lean

It looks like the leaner is hung up in the "middle tree". If I was cutting this, I would ladder up the middle tree from the side away from the leaner and drop off the section to the left. Then cut the limb off the middle tree that is supporting the leaner and let it fall to the ground.

    Stihl USG Square Grinding attachment

Purchase a Baltic Abrasives CBN wheel for it.

Is there a cure for CAD?

I heard that a cure for CAD made it through clinical trials, then Stihl and Husqvarna bought out the drug company and buried it so that it wouldn't make it to the marketplace.:)

    Want to Buy USG Grinder

I have a Stihl USG and a Stihl HOS. The HOS doesn't have all the adjustments of the USG, but the fixed HOS angles are what I end up using on my USG. If you would consider a HOS, let me know.

    Sold Husqvarna 346xp

If I didn't already have 3 of them, I would be tempted.

    Stihl USG Square Grinding attachment

If Baltic Abrasives made a CBN wheel for square grinding on a USG, would that simplify the conversion of the grinder by removing the dressing components? Is the spring advance of the chain a required feature, or just a helpful feature? I'd just make the base from 6061 bar stock and forgo the...

If You Could Only Have One Chainsaw Forever...

The one saw plan is a tough one, but for me the saw would need to be a compact, in the 60cc +/- displacement, readily available parts, easy to service yourself. Computer adjusted saws, while nice would fail the easy to service yourself, as would clamshell saws. Readily available parts would put...

Help me with my two-saw plan

I think you will find yourself doing most of your work with the small saw, so optimize for that. If your 201 serves that purpose adequately, keep it and decide on your larger saw. Select a nice 70-80cc class saw and purchase a 20" and a second 25 to 28" bar for the super big jobs.

    Lombard Comanco

The fuel cap on my Lombard Super Comango doesn't have a duck bill fuel vent, but it should have left the factory with one. I couldn't find a Homelite or McCullough fuel caps which had thread matching the Lombard saw. One could 3D print a cap insert to hold the duckbill if you're looking for a...
