    Swap meet...

i can't rightly remember would have to walk myself back out to the shop and have a look . . .sometimes the saws run together and i am often surprised to find i have a certain saw tucked under the bench or behind something else

for your consideration, an 028 AV Wood Boss. this does run, but the clutch went all hand grenade. not pictured, but included a large baggie of parts and 16 inch bar (no chain) would like to trade for a piston and jug for Husky 55 Rancher or Piston and Jug for Husky 266Xp . . . or something else...

    8600 lbs of cottonwood today

congrats, sounds like a good haul. it is something magicial almost to drop one of those giant cottonwoods (what my highschool health teacher would've called a "healthy natural high") i like to mix in some cottonwood with my usual Lodgepole and Aspen, it is readily available, generally...

annoyed with public land cutters (a venting exercise)

the beetles are terrible here as well, where i saw one red needled tree last year there are 5 or 6 this year. i also look at using these trees for firewood as a win-win situation i have firewood and a beetle infested tree is removed and hopefully slows those satanic insects down. i also believe...

annoyed with public land cutters (a venting exercise)

i live in an area where the majority of the timber is encompassed by public lands (BLM, Nat. Forest) an individual can buy permits to harvest dead, diseased, down and invasive live trees (spec. Quaking Aspen) in years past a lot of folks got away from burning wood, pellet stoves and propane...

575xp a good deal or no?

thanks all for advice and personal takes on the 575xp . . . after reading what everyone had to say and sleeping on it, i think i'm going to pass over the 575.

575xp a good deal or no?

the "new saw fund" i've been ferreting away a little at a time for the past year has grown to an amount which allows me to begin my quest for the new saw, been seriously considering the new 576xp. my work route takes me to a Husky dealer about once a week, and i always seem to linger there in...

    Wood Hauler Pics

thanks, "Little Whitey" has been with me a long time, she shows her age but is more reliable than i could expect or ask after 285,000 miles. and old Negra is serious about rides and wood outings, though more interested in chasing thrown limbs than helping load logs:D

in need of a jug and piston for a Husky 266 xp, saw was the victim of an all too common death . . . i loaned it and the guy i loaned it to, loaned it to another guy who filled and ran it with unmixed gasoline. not much of worth to trade but would compensate with U.S. currency

    cottonwood

i've burned a lot of cottonwood . . . usually small stuff that has suckered up between 4-10" in diameter, i season it for a year and mix it with more respectable woods. it has never failed to keep me and mine warm even during a 35 below zero january cold snap

how did this happen to my 7900?

my Makita dcs 6401 does that once in a while after it has sat with fuel in the tank . . . spitting fuel out of the comp. release and smoking like hell, for a few minutes after starting. never acts up when i'm responsible and run it dry or avoid storing the saw with mix in the tank.

    smallest saw vs. biggest tree

it was, we get 'em here in the higher elevations that grow like some women . . . squat with a large bole. tree was probably only 35-38 feet tall, but a chunky monkey.
  17. E&R_firewood

    Aspen

i've burned acres of it (quaking aspen) it is so plentiful and invasive in this area that it is cheaper than free, often folks will pay you to cut it up and haul it away . . . it will not hold a fire, burns like a large log shaped cotton ball, but for kindling and mixing in as a "filler" with...

    smallest saw vs. biggest tree

i was just curious what extreme measures others have gone to. What is the most disproportionate scenario you've found yourself in when it comes to the size of the saw being used and the tree being felled? my own personal experience was using an MS250 with 16" b&c on a Lodgepole Pine that had a...

How to get wounded (or worse)

wow . . .huh . . .wow, i am left asking two questions in my head #1 -- if someone did this why would they ever want to record it and make it viewable by millions of people (to me this is akin to posting a video of yourself peeing your pants) #2 -- what would happen if this fool tried that on a...

Fleabay deadbeat . . .need advice and to vent

i filed the claim thru paypal, from what's been said this is encouraging . . .also upon further delving into the matter i noticed that the wife had set the default payment on our paypal account to the credit card rather than transfer from the bank account . . .this also seems good, as the credit...
