Stihl 028 Wood boss AV oil pump looks bad?

Looks just like mine, my cap fits loose as well, just like yours. I would replace gasket underneath while you have it off as mine has leaked there before. Otherwise I wouldn’t be afraid to run it as long as it oils good. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I may regret this. But let's hear it. 3/8 chain round filed

Using a 3 in 1 takes the guess work out and does just as good of a job. I’ve been happy with mine and have three now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Advice/ideas sharpening chains

Check out the 3 in 1 files. They are easy to use and do a great job. Stihl makes them as well as a few other brands. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Longest bar on a Stihl MS390?

Run a full skip chain and it will handle the 28” fine. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I know for certain mine is Osage. I just posted the pictures as a reference. I forgot to label them. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

It is to me but only because I burn mostly hedge, locust, oak, and ash. I do agree that it leaves some good coals in the stove though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sorry I should have labeled what the pictures were. The pictures were of Osage orange or hedge as most call it. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I’ve dealt with honey locust and black locust that like your first picture. I have never seen any with bark like your first picture. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

That almost looks like elm to me. Are you positive that is locust? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Where I’m from they both are very common. They are in just about every fence row. Cottonwood is also very common here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I have some hedge out back I’ll cut a round off and split it to see how they compare. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Will make some good shoulder wood when it’s dry. It just doesn’t burn real hot. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Hedge also burns hot and puts out lots of sparks when reloading the stove. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Yes. I agree with you on red elm. I have cut some 3’+ in diameter. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

The bark does not look like locust to me. Locust trees will have a sort of shag bark. This reminds me of some elm I have dealt with before. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
