    Stihl 064av rebuild

So I have the 064 all apart. I’m not saying I have a leak in the tank because I don’t know, I never fueled it. But I notice the fuel tank is multiple parts. The right side is the whole molded handle/tank, and it has the see through left side that has the cap. What are they using to join the...

    Stihl 064av rebuild

i seen videos of Matt Olsen I believe milling a case to lower squish. But that’s ingenious mounting the cylinder and facing off the bottom of the cylinder. I’d like to see a pic of the end where he had the live center. Is that an 064 cylinder? I have a big enough lathe I could do that and...

that’s looking sweet! I have access to a powder coating booth and oven. Who has a powder that matches stihl grey? I seen one on Eastwood’s site that they call “cream” that looks close.

    Stihl 064av rebuild

$300.....for an 088 066 046 and 200t. They don’t look the best but they definitely don’t look the worst. The 200t looks the worst. The 088 looks the best. He just want them gone. With a 41”, 28”, and 24” rollo es bars all in decent shape. Still have a lot of paint on them. Like I said, I doubt...

    Stihl 064av rebuild

I really don’t wNt to say because no one will believe me. Let’s just say I was delivering in another city and noticed them on “letgo”. I didn’t have but $25 in me. I got a hold of the guy and went to an atm and pulled out $400 because that’s all my card will let me get. When I was leaving with...

    Stihl 064av rebuild

yes he said they all ran but the 200t. It has a starter pawl problem that won’t engage. He thought it ran right up to the point that the starter quit working.

Thank you, I’m anxious to see if they run but I’ll go ahead and do the work first. I’m scared to try and start the 088 lol

    Stihl 064av rebuild

I picked up 4 saws today all from the same guy. His tree service went out of business in 2010. A 046 mag, a 066 mag, a 087 mag, and a 200t. None have been ran in 10 years. Should I pull jugs off and inspect? Maybe squirt oil down into the bearings? Or just gas and try to fire? I’m new to this...

    Stihl 064av rebuild

I will use that as a last resort. I’d rather find the oem one if someone happens to know of a stash. I prolly have about a month till it’s all back together between work and waiting for parts. A new oem gasket kit is $60 on eBay. Is the deLer cheaper?

    Stihl 064av rebuild

Ty glad to be here. I have a meteor piston and caber rings on the way. I need seals and a gasket kit. I plan on mKing it all pretty. I’m converting it to the HD filter. I have a new plastic carb box, but it has the hole for the tube type vent. I guess I could plug the hole and use the short...

luckily the bearing feel great, the bearings are tight in the case, and are snug on the crank. Bottom end is great other than the seals.

    Stihl 064av rebuild

thank you! I’ve ran saws all my life, but as a lot of guys, I really had no idea how to fix them. It was always a “bad carb”.... I now realized it’s not always a carb problem. Now I’m getting older and don’t run them as much any more, but I have a passion for working on them. Over the last month...

    Stihl 064av rebuild

ok now that explains another thread I was reading about Dans 064 build. I couldn’t understand why his halves were apart and someone was worried about putting the oil pump on. Thank you

    Stihl 064av rebuild

I got the case split. The crank stayed with the flywheel side. The clutch side appears that there’s no shoulder for the bearing? The bearing is flush with the inside of the case, but appears to stick out on the outside by about .100. I’ll post pics tomorrow if someone doesn’t already know why...

    Stihl 064av rebuild

Even if I was able to get the seals out without splitting the case, I’ve never split a case and want to lol

    Stihl 064av rebuild

90psi....not good....pressure in the fuel tank. Tearing it down....piston is toast, cylinder has a little transfer but looks very usable. Very slow leak on both crank seals. Took about 2 minutes but dropped from 7 to 0?
