Thoughts on metal detectors for logs

About 60$ from harbor freight. Works great, screw at 10 3/4 on the tap measure

    English walnut mantel. 8’ long

Pretty happy with it. Wish I had left a little more hardwood on the one side, there would have been a touch of sap wood on the ends but it turned out good

    English walnut mantel. 8’ long

Got a call for red oak and found this walnut trunk there. A lot of sap would so I just made a beam with it.

Apple wood with nice red grain

3” is probably enough to make a bowl I’d think. I kinda prayed to the wood gods this stuff doesn’t warp and crack too much

Apple wood with nice red grain

Wasn’t much really slid wood on this apple tree like most but did find a couple solid pieces. Broke my chain from sharpening with too big of a file I’m guessing

    064 not running right

Had the same problem before taking it apart. Got a carb kit and it’s acting the same. I did notice the L screw was bent when putting it back together. It was going in wobbly. Hopefully that may be the issue. Right when I tap the gas it revs up to a much higher rpm and stays there, do you think...

    Another cherry trunk crotch

Got 9x9 out of the trunk. Came out pretty good. Wish I got into the hartwood more but when it gets planned down one day it will get into it more

    Another cherry trunk crotch

Might mill some 3” thick slabs out of the 6 foot piece but I like doing beams. I think it will be really nice looking from the end grain, and got a 2’ section for cutting boards

    Another cherry trunk crotch

Ran into some rotten spots which was kinda a let down for me but maybe they can be made into some cool tables still. And got a nice section for a good size beam that will be 6’ long and about 9x9 or so

Wild Cherry cookie slabs. 12”. Interesting grain

Difference between anchor seal and no end sealer at all

Wild Cherry cookie slabs. 12”. Interesting grain

Going on tables and decoration on top like a pic and flowers I’m guessing. Got 2 3” pieces and 1 2” piece and just got the pith in the end of one of them. Hopefully it won’t bother it or I’ll router sled it down 3/16 to get it out. Leon says he’s hitting the wood soft lol

Wild Cherry cookie slabs. 12”. Interesting grain

I did cut most of it from the straight part of the trunk. I am sure some of them will crack tho. There are going to be for my sisters wedding. I’ll probably just leave them as is. Not going to flatten them on my router sled till they’re dry. Any idea on drying times of cookies? That are sealed...

Wild Cherry cookie slabs. 12”. Interesting grain

Hopefully they don’t split in half. Yes I made it in 2018 I believe

Wild Cherry cookie slabs. 12”. Interesting grain

Got this wax from the local wood shop and was just going to get a quart for 10$ and start using tite bond wood glue as end sealer since it’s a lot cheaper. Was using anchor seal. It’s 50$ for a gallon and the guy says that what’s in this jug. They just take it out of a 55 gallon drum so I just...

Wild Cherry cookie slabs. 12”. Interesting grain

Milled with my 362 on 32” bar. Probably going to milled the remainder of the trunk I have. It’s about 3’ or so long. Thinking 1 3” thick slab or couple 2”ers. Try and not include the pith in them, got 18 2” cookies and 1 4” thick one since I forgot to switch my mill from 4” to 2” after the first...
