Would you put a new piston in this cylinder?

I found Meteor pistons on eBay for cheaper than actually, but rather keep it OEM if I can. Saw's getting a new piston FOR SURE. I'm wondering if this cylinder is a good candidate for a new OEM piston.

Would you put a new piston in this cylinder?

064 OEM. never really inspected cylinders myself, usually replace if its old because it's reasonable. But since 064 OEM cylinders are expensive and hard to come by, I'm thinking of just putting an OEM piston and rings in. To me, the plating looks to be thinning. Is that right?

Looking for opinions on an 066

Years ago, I heard that the OEM wrist pims between 066 and 064 were different? Maybe it was crank shaft and I got that mixed up. But did thknk the pins were different sizes

Looking for opinions on an 066

Kenton! SO lesson learned: I will not trust Stihl Techs anymore... I just pulled the muffler and popsicle stick method measured... 52mm. You are right sir! But the question still stands: What would you do with it?

Looking for opinions on an 066

That is exactly what I thought! But when I called Stihl and we went through all the part numbers, dude told me, for sure, I have an 066

Looking for opinions on an 066

So I picked an old flat top 066. It runs. It appears all OEM. It's an oldie. Serial numbers start with 11843XXXXX. It's been used, but not abused. Plastics have lost some color, metal cyl cover badge is missing, starter cover badge is worn silver. 3/4 wrap, small clutch cover with the riveted...

suggestions? on an 044 I picked up?

Thanks hdtoolmakr! I may have access to an 044 AV case I was gonna grab up. But I imagine it being an AV it could be the 15mm crank instead of the 14mm I would have on my bench. After you said something, I did some research on here and found that out.

suggestions? on an 044 I picked up?

Thanks! I appreciate your suggestion. No Chinese and I'm not going to replace tank with OEM, expensive. I think I might fix the tank. The crack is huge though. I may sell the saw in a couple of years. I go through saws constantly; I'm never satiated. I Like new to me saws. Dont want to try to...

suggestions? on an 044 I picked up?

Picked up this nice lookin ol' 044. If memory suits me, this is a 10mm by serial numbers, but just barely. It was at a pawn shop for 50% off back to school lawn & garden sale. Quick glance looked ok. Some epoxy on the front of the case, but optimistically guessed it was a leaky case gasket and a...

    Stihl Mount to Husky Mount

It is done. Ended up going with 92 links just like yotaismygame said. And had to drill the tension pin holes too which was a bear. Broke a chain and spun with a harbor freight breaker/spinner I bought tonight. It is garbage though. Still had to hand hammer the rivets after spinning cause the...

    Stihl Mount to Husky Mount

Thank for the info. I'm planning on getting some masterlinks just in case I need to break the chains. Didn't think I'd have the headache of enlarging the adjuster hole on the bar though, appreciate that heads up!

    Stihl Mount to Husky Mount

I ordered an adapter for the 9mm Husqy mount to have a 12mm Stihl bar, right? So my question is, basically: A 28" bar on a husqy has a 93 Drive links, 28" on a Stihl is 91 Drive links, using a 7 tooth sprocket... if I put a 28 inch Stihl bar (I just think those White bars look sexy on a husqy...
