    Advice for homeowner chainsaw

I have a small Echo CS370 and it’s been a solid chainsaw. You could look around your local Facebook Marketplace or Craigslist for a used Echo CS310, CS 370, or CS400. They would be running 14”-18” bars on them, so they should work great for cutting up some pre split firewood. I haven’t run my...

Who makes the best Lineman pliers and Diagonal cutters?

If you’re going to be cutting a lot of 9g wire, what about a pair of mini bolt cutters or cable cutters? Knipex makes an 8” mini bolt cutter, and ChannelLock has aviation cutters that cut cable, spring hardened wire and mild steel rod. Just a couple examples...

Who makes the best Lineman pliers and Diagonal cutters?

I definitely haven’t used every brand, but I have the Channellock 369 9.5” linemen pliers and 8” 338 diagonal cutters. They’ve worked well enough and feel comfortable enough to me that I’ve never really given a thought to replacing them with another brand. L8R, Matt

    Wanting decent small cheap saw.

Not sure if you’re on Facebook or not, but check out your local Marketplace if you are. There are Echo CS370 and CS400 saws local to me running between $75-$150. L8R, Matt

    Two stroke fuel ratios

I use rubbing alcohol on my folding saw and knife blades to clean off the pine sap. Cutting dead pines to get the fatwood leaves quite a mess on the blades. Get the 90% rubbing alcohol. It melts/dissolves the pine sap pretty good. L8R, Matt

McCulloch Mac 10-10 Automatic rebuild questions

You can use Dirko, YamaBond, HondoBond HT, Permatex Motoseal, Loctite 518 flange sealer, etc…. Everyone has their favorite case sealer. I use HondaBond HT, but any of these should work for you just fine. Just remember prepping/cleaning the case halves first gets you the best results. L8R, Matt

    Oil mix questions

So you think maybe one step hotter on the plug? I’m going by how I used to read plugs from when I was a kid running harescrambles on my old Penton Six Day Trials bike. Dad told me if the ground strap and insulator were the color of a shopping bag, and only two or three threads were dark, it was...

    Oil mix questions

Saber and Red Armor are probably just about equal. But I can get a quart of Saber for about three bucks more than a pint of Red Armor. So double the amount of oil for an extra few bucks isn’t too bad. The last batch of fuel I mixed was with Husqvarna XP+ mixed at 40:1. Seems to be just a little...

    Oil mix questions

I run either Amsoil Saber or Echo Red Armor mixed 40:1 always with ethanol free 90 octane gas. I use this same mix in my small Echo CS370, my three vintage/antique Lawn-Boy mowers, Husqvarna trimmer, Hitachi leaf blower, and Ariens snowblower. The pics are after running a few gallons of Red...

Pre mix 50:1 vs straight non ethanol in cans....

I don’t have this problem because besides our cars, every piece of OPE I have is 2 stroke powered. Everything from my new Husqvarna weed eater to my vintage Lawn Boys that I mow with every week. I mix Amsoil Saber at 45-50:1 and use that can for all of it. Plus I have probably 6 Marathon...

    People in the USA (Ethanol)

I’m lucky enough to have at least 6 gas stations within a 30 minute drive of me that sells ethanol free fuel. The closest one is only 2.5 miles away. That’s all I run in all of my power equipment. If you’ve never checked this site out, see if you have anything near you. Pure-Gas.org L8R, Matt

    Chainsaw warm up period?

As soon as my saw starts, I kick it down to idle and let it warm up a bit. Maybe 30 seconds to a minute. L8R, Matt
