    Sparks from clutch area

Thanks for the replies. Chain is .325/50. 100% sure it’s compatible. It’s all I own and have used these chains on this saw without issue. The saw does indeed have a rim sprocket. Can’t imagine it was not seated but suppose it’s possible.

    Sparks from clutch area

Cutting today with a recently bought (few cords through it) 550xp. first few trees went fine. Changes out chain and there was decent amount of sparks from area of clutch. I’ve got a few older chains that I threw off the bar at one point. Filed drive links down so it would fit back in the...

    Depth guage

I am trying to hone my sharpening skills and am in need of a depth guage tool. I have a husqvarna roller filing guide but the depth guage tool is clearly mismatched to my chain. I am running woodland pro 18”, 20RC chain with 72 drive links. 50 guage .325. When I line up the guide the...

    450 rancher starting issue

2nd post. Replaced a broken clutch sprocket successfully a few weeks ago and cut up a tree. Saw ran normal. Starter pulley broke so I replaced it. Saw pulled roughly when trying to start. I pulled it apart and then back together a few times, with no change. I then pulled the spark lug and...

    Help a newbie out?

I have a husqvarna 450 rancher and the clutch sprocket just lost a tooth. Saw is a 2011 and has about 50 cords through it. Serial number 4200876. First, I am not 100% sure I am finding the right replacement part on the web. Can someone point me in the right direction? Seems I have fallen...

    Dangerous tools?

Ladders are pretty dangerous. I know a few sheetrockers and painters who fell off small step ladders and got hurt. I myself took a ride on a 4' ladder, which slipped out from under me slowly, but still left me with a dislocated shoulder. I've seen a few folks use the old screw style wood...

    Husqvarna 450 and rookie questions

Little update. Confirmed that oil poured in is leaking from two places. First, the correct place (and it gushes out) and second a hole near the bolt for the clutch cover. So probably there is a line disconnected. I read about removing the clutch to take a look, and everything I read (or...

    Husqvarna 450 and rookie questions

First time posting. I am a firewood guy. My first (and only) saw was a 450 rancher. Bought it in 2012 and have cut about 50 cords with it. Have always run 50:1 ethanol free and generally taken care of it. Stopped oiling this spring and a new oiler was only $50 (parts and labor) at the saw...
