I have an L77 w/very little wear and 16” rollerbearing sprocket inside bar type bar Also I have 285cd that looks practically new...I pulled the cylinder off to put a helicoil in the spark plug threads, had a good look inside looks new inside too, it’s a 52mm thick ring piston setup...

I’d be afraid to use it, I’ve got some of those saws that had really low hours like a couple tanks use and the crankshaft needle bearings came out...it’s the only setup I’ve seen like that where u can replace the crank bearing by pulling the cylinder and packing in new needles

I seen a saw college video that dug into the 910-930’s...it’s like the gold standard resource for J-red9xx’s... There was also an old post that went along w/pics and some of the combinations that are possible ....they all said the “afttermarket 394xp piston is the same as the aftmrkt jred920...

K thanks, I got the stroke and wristpin measurements dieled out a match as does the clutch side threads and overall width. there’s a huge time gap it surprises me they share so many parts (this 394xp is 1994 & j920 is 1982)

Does anyone know if a Jonsered920 crankshaft is compatible w/a Husqvarna 394xp??? Eyeballin it they look the same...I’d hate to crack open a good 920 and find out I missed somethin though!

The 670 Johnsered really is a superior design & I think this combo I made w/the 50mm gildironi would hold its own sawing next to a 272xp...

I just finished putting together a 670 with a husky66 p/c,carb, &muffler...I Love it!! The 66 uses the closed port 50mm gildroni p/c, it’s a high quality piston and cylinder, made in Italy The 670chassis makes a lot faster saw than the husky61,66 did I swapped that setup on all three!!

Im Im just starting to go through them and take pictures and try to sell them in the trading post soon... Looks like one almost mint sup797& posbly a Prototype 797g are the best the other ones are just carcusses with various thin thick rings and diff carberator combos for now
