"Renewing" Western Red Cedar, on interior walls.

Got a bathroom with long installed Western Red Cedar, I presume, on the walls. This is likely 30-40 years old tongue and groove v-beveled planks arranged diagonally. Over the years, the board just behind the sink/vanity have become faded, probably from being "wiped down" and a bit spotted...

    Stihl 011 Av Ignition coil

Right, so, that's where the kill wire should go, if I recall. No need for one on the coil then, right? I'm too worn out from watching the eclipse to go pull my 012 out and look. I replaced the coil, etc, a couple years ago.

    Stihl 011 Av Ignition coil

On that style is not the kill wire the one on the ignition trigger (metal can)?

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

I could no believe it either. Started giving me a complex. Especially as I had to do a lot to that 20 years in storage leaf blower to get it running again. That seems to be the way it may go. I'll probably "unbuild" the pile first, to dry it out some, then "start small". Ash was my...

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

Did not say I did that, nor did I do that. The "starter fluid" was a sorta joke, really being old shop rags and such soaked with used engine oil. It burned for a good 5 minutes or so. Not quite fresh green, was cut the summer before. But, nothing stopped it from getting soaked by all the...

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

My last try just before the burn ban on March 14, 2024 (if I recall the date) was a dismal failure. Lot of raging blaze until the "starter fluid" ran out then slowly faded, even with a leaf blower going full blast. Still a bit wet, I think from rain a few days earlier. But I wanted to try...

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

Well . . . it has been interesting to drop in from time to time.

craftsman blower 358.797251 fuel line routing? Carb rebuild?

Thanks for the info. I kinda forgot about this post once I got it running. I just kept messing with the choke and eventually the smoking got less and it began to idle, sort of. Kept at it, messing with the the mix screw screw and after a few minutes getting it hot, the smoke was gone and...

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

I did not read far enough. I dug a "pit" about a foot or less deep, on the advice of the "pro" that took down 3 huge white pine between my house and the power lines. Like 20 ft from the house and with a lean. I did not feel confident enough to do it myself. He had chipped up everything...

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

No. The ban, at this point anyway, will end in April, so I may have all summer to give it another try. If we hit a dry spell, who knows. What gets me it is a State Wide ban due to "dry winter" is some parts of the State, but her it's been wet as can be. Oh well.

Home Brew borate anti bug formula.

I thought I would share this here, as I used it a few years back and found it effective. Ingredients: 4 lbs of 20 mule team borax (or any powdered borax I guess) 3 1/2 lbs boric acid 1 gal. propylene glycol (nontoxic antifreeze)...

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

I am soooo depressed. I have tried 3 time in the last 2 months to get that #$%#$ pile burning. It has been pretty wet here in the NE but last several days have been warm, dry and breezy. So tried again. The pile is almost all White Pine, branches and small bits to start with. Got a 4"...

craftsman blower 358.797251 fuel line routing? Carb rebuild?

Went ahead and replaced the fuel lines, filter, bulb and cleaned the carb, installing new "diaphragms" and gaskets. Had to buy a sheet of Uni Filter foam and cut what I needed as the OEM is not available. Went with Uni oil. Man that stuff is thick. So, it did start pretty easily and seems...

craftsman blower 358.797251 fuel line routing? Carb rebuild?

Got a craftsman blower 358.797251 that sat for years and had mice make a home in it. After cleaning it out, it would pull through, but hang unless the plug was pulled out. Maybe just getting too old to pull hard. Any way the fuel lines and prime/purge bulb were shot, so ordered new. Also...

    Lumber grades. "Down fall"?

OK, thanks. Good to know. But is "downfall" from dead, or otherwise naturally fallen trees? Some of the palletized stuff I saw had dark areas that looked like it might be more than "been laying around" dirt. Like something might be already eating it from having laid on the ground for years.

    Lumber grades. "Down fall"?

Maybe some one here knows. I look at building material auctions from time to time. One lists some T&G SYP paneling graded as "down fall". What is that? Never heard of it. Perhaps made from salvaged natural fallen trees?

Stihl 011 av leaks bar oil

4-5 years ago I looked into getting the plungers made in Asia. I gave it a miss as I did not think there could be that many 009,010,011,012 still in service to justify the money for setup and production. How wrong I was.

    planting black locust from seed

On a whim I bought some black locust seeds. I could have just collected pods from some of the big box store parking lots, but, risk being run over or maybe arrested for theft. So, what's a good way to plant these buggers? Before the snow, I just scattered a few here and there around the...

Brush and debris pile burning in cold weather?

Still hanging around. All I need for that setup is the stove pipe. And hope that old leaf blower will fire up. IIRC it needs 40:1. Maybe 32:1. Aint that special. Gonna be one wet pile by the time the weather lets up. Was not expecting the forecast to turn out so wet next few weeks.
