    Homelite Chainsaws

Well Mark, neither the 180 Classic, nor the 200 Classic I have has the primer bulb on the fuel cap.I do remember the Little Red I have has one though.I'll see about hunting it up tomorrow.

The fuel line is simple - only one to deal with.Does the 200 Classic have the adjustable oiler knob on the clutch side? (I haven't looked at my saw yet). The oil lines can be a bit tricky.Just remember that the line with the oil pick up on it goes to the bar pad.The line with the duck bill in the...

    Homelite Chainsaws

Mark,I believe that I have a 200 Classic that I bought about a yr.ago & haven't touched it yet.I also believe that the 180 Classic is almost identical & I have that saw pulled apart.I'll take a look over the weekend to see what's what. There was a guy on eBay who was making the fuel caps...

    Homelite Chainsaws

My 3 least favorite Homelite saws - 1)150,2)330,3)360.The 150 to me is the ugliest saw I've ever seen with that weird looking rear handle,& it's the worst saw to work on IMO.The 330is have the worst oiling system & good luck to get one that does work. The 360s are just a giant PITA to work on...

Do you have another known good carb that you can put on to see if it's actually the current carb that's causing your problem(s)?

    Homelite Chainsaws

I've had this XL-12 for about a month now.I had a mishap with the coil/stator plate after cleaning it & ended up putting another coil/stator plate in it from an old blue & white SXL.Then I had to send the carb to Leon for him to fix because I couldn't get it to hold pressure after a rebuild.I...

That would've been my guess as well Cory.Actually, most of the saws in the XL-1xx series pretty much look alike IMO.

    Homelite Chainsaws

I picked up this XL-500 from a fellow Homelite enthusiast in Oregon last month. He sent the saw with it's 24 in.bar & chain in a wooden crate that he made especially for this saw,the put the crate in a cardboard box.It was well made & well thought out.I fueled it up part way yesterday & put the...

A Tillotson HK carb is the worst carb I've ever dealt with.Zamas are nice n snappy. The Walbros are consistently a PITA.Yeah, you can make that little disc out of a leftover diaphragm that comes in a carb kit that you don't always need.Same material as the disc. I found another place to buy the...

I knew exactly what you were talking about. The check valve nozzle repair kit is a Walbro 86-523.I've had Leon repair quite a few carbs for me due to my eyes being so bad that I can't do a check valve replacement.I found the check valve repair kit at Small Engine Pro Dealers for $5.20

Where in God's Creation are you buying the Walbro 86-523 kits from that are so costly?Don't tell me - eBay.I've bought those kits from a small engine repair shop for around $5.I'm sure the Little Red is worth more than $5.

Here's a thought Ira (maybe a stupid one at that too),do you think it's a possibility it might be in the carb?Another test you can do to rule out an air leak from the seal(s) is to spray brake cleaner at the seal area while running. If it has a leak there the saw will suck in the brake cleaner &...

Try putting a rebuild kit in it & make sure the inlet screen goes in correctly & the needle seat is clean.

I got the XL-12 yesterday & began going through it.No spark as the seller saidf.Gee,I wonder why? I took a pic of the points after I pulled them out, then another pic after I cleaned them.

On another note,I picked up another XL-12,circa 1976, fairly cheap. It should arrive either tomorrow,or early next week. This saw should be a points & condenser saw.I don't think the electronic ignitions came out till a couple yrs.later.

    Homelite Chainsaws

I bought an XL-850 that "just needed a little TLC".Obviously the seller didn't go through the saw at all other than to put some fuel in the carb to see if it'd fire.I went through the saw & found this wrong: missing a muffler bolt, upon taking the cover off I found the nut was missing in the...

    McCulloch Chain Saws

I wasn't trying to be condecsending.I was trying to explain where the ear was broken off on the recoil itself.I knew where you were talking about, which is not the recoil.
