How much are you going to be using it? I use the Trupulse 200.

When is being efficient to good?

I’m not a fan of it either and think it will fade away like the cut to length did here. The argument I hear is that companies can’t find hookers. Well wages have been stagnant if not decreased with inflation with record high log prices. Before I quit logging I got to hook behind a couple...

    Work on the west coast

There is a severe shortage of folks that want to work in the rigging in ID. We also typically work through February then start back sometime in April. My first job in the woods was shoveling out the snow around trees for the faller.

Russian Timber Industry: What is this type of saw called??

Yeah when I was running my consulting business I came to the conclusion if I had to snowmobile to get there I was probably losing money. Had a couple cruising jobs pop up last minute where I had to carry a ski pole around to push down to find dbh which was just above the snow line.

Russian Timber Industry: What is this type of saw called??

I guess he had some really interesting stories. Brought back a set of skis like seen in this video. Interesting you mention fire salvage sales and crazy snow. I’m headed out to check on one tomorrow that I bet the snow is for our five feet deep. I’ll take pictures.

Russian Timber Industry: What is this type of saw called??

My first job in the woods was shoveling snow for my neighbor who sawed. Showed up with my snowshoes the first day and he asked me what I was doing with them as I was to break trail! Can remember falling off a tree and sank up to my shoulders and I’m 6’4”. I’m on the forester side now but...

Do loggers really cut "200 trees/day"?

Hopefully it has some modified brakes!

Do loggers really cut "200 trees/day"?

I’m on the forestry side of things now but when I was still logging we got paid piece price and for the saws to make more than us in the rigging they would have had to cut that or more. Even when I would go saw I’d cut well over 100. Our wood varied from 8” to big enough you had to bridle them...

    Where to buy replacement calks???

Local boot maker told me that the leather needed for drive caulks became impossible to get because the chemicals that they used to tan it were a no go. He still had some up the attic but it wasn’t worth building them.

    Looking for a picture

Been a good while since I got on here. Hoping someone can steer me in the right direction. I’m trying to find a picture of a drawing or picture I believe was titled “Monday Morning” of a guy lacing up his caulks sitting on a log hungover. Thanks in advance.

    Line skidding video

We sent different sized stuff to different mills. Some mills were tooled up to specialize in certain sized wood. The really small stuff goes for tonwood.

    Line skidding video

I came across this video the other day. I used to live in this town but never worked with this crew. Some neat shots I thought. They have some other videos too.
