    Portland man crushed by Stump

None of the articles were very clear on the details, but they stated that some “Safety Equipment Malfunctioned “. A couple articles mentioned a come along and a guy wire. It seems that he had hand dug fairly deeply around the stump, and evidently had tension on the stump with a come along, and...

    Portland man crushed by Stump

Last Tuesday night, a man in the North East Portland, OR Russell neighborhood was crushed by a 1200# stump that he was removing from his backyard. He was working alone, and the cause is listed as a Safety Equipment Malfunction, the details are rather sparse, but it appears that he was hand...

    Advice for homeowner chainsaw

I’d say look at the Husky 445, it’s reasonably light, decent power for it’s class, and it has a decompression valve, the smallest saw that I know of with one. I bought one for my Wife in 2017, not a lot of hours on it, but it has been reliable, and I was impressed with it, considering it’s...

    What brand outlast?

Maybe not many, usually smaller shops, in more rural areas, but there’s definitely a few out there that will still let you demo When I was delivering auto parts about a year ago, IIRC, it was a Carquest store, in Duvall, WA, slowp may know it, but like in many small towns, that store sold a Lot...

    What brand outlast?

I’m not a logger, but I would expect, how You take Care of your saws, will have more to do with their Reliability and Lifespans than Brand, especially between those two choices As my username suggests, I run all Huskies, but when I was researching saws, back in the early 90’s, I decided that...

2023 PNW GTG is a Go!

I Believe that it is a Comfort Inn, down in Creswell, OR about 12 miles south of the Hwy 126 exit on 1-5, that would be a reasonable drive to the GTG, I have stayed there, and it was a Good Hotel, I would recommend it, or stay there again Doug 😎

    Craigslist laughs

Just imagine what he could get for them, if they were Highly Valuable Black Walnut 😳 Doug 😎

What are your thoughts on this vid?

That is True, but the time frame in which things wear out, can be manipulated, and in many cases has been, for the purpose of increasing sales Doug 😎

What are your thoughts on this vid?

Actually, I think that the Almighty Dollar got in the way of Pride and Quality 😉 Planned Obsolescence has become the current business model, to keep sales up. A Lot of products could be produced to last much longer, but that would reduce sales Doug 😎

What are your thoughts on this vid?

What brand(s) were those, do you know? With Husky, the ultra low end “1” series saws, 120 130 135, don’t seem to have any dogs, but the “4” series home owner grade saws have a metal dawg on the crankcase side of the bar. Doug 😎

What are your thoughts on this vid?

If Bill wants more, then I would agree that he should get them while he can, no telling when they will actually be discontinued No Disrespect intended, but I have been hearing the gloom and doom predictions of the 390XP, 395XP, and 3120XP being discontinued for at least the last 5 years. All...

What are your thoughts on this vid?

I’m guessing that they won’t ship them to the US, Canada or Europe, but they are still producing them By “Bootlegging” I am assuming that he is referring to buying them from an out of country vendor, like Robinwood, here on AS, he will sell and ship them to the US, and other places, where an...

    Chainsaw meets jeans

I’ve got saws from a 38cc top handle, to the 119 cc 3120XP, pretty much have all the 10cc classes covered, and have bars from 13”, to 72”, though admittedly the 72” has never been mounted yet, the need for it fell through, and having mounted the 60”, I decided not to mount the 72”, without a...

    Chainsaw meets jeans

We’ll just have to agree to disagree on that. It was the balancing difference that I noticed, and the longer bar was exponentially heavier than with the smaller saws and bars. The 3120 balances nicely with the 36”, is nose heavy, but easily manageable with the 44”, the 60” was well beyond what...

    Chainsaw meets jeans

I don’t run the 3120XP much, other than milling any more, with the 390XP, and 395XPs, I really don’t need to use the 3120 for anything other than milling. But when the 3120XP was the next step up from the 266XP, I put it into a 34” D Fir, with the 36” B&C on it, yeah buckin with it was FUN. The...

    Chainsaw meets jeans

I don’t think so. Mr Metsa was usually pretty mature for his age, He even showed up in Pol/Rel a few times, and was more mature than many of the TDS sufferers in there Doug 😎

    Chainsaw meets jeans

I think that you’re the last. Oregon recently started allowing self service full time, but requires the station to maintain some (maybe 50%) of the pumps as full service, WITHOUT an extra charge It’s faster for me to pump it myself, but I understand the people like my Wife that don’t like...

    Chainsaw meets jeans

Who put that saw up on the log for her? I’m rather doubting that she put it there herself. This is my 3120XP, with the 60” bar mounted. The 3120 balances nicely with a 36”, a bit nose heavy but manageable with the 44” mounted, but Dayum, was I surprised at the difference in the 60”, I...

    Chainsaw meets jeans

Yeah, that was 2:12, that I will never get back, And Captain Obvious, doin what he does But chaps are still a Good Idea. I had been running saws for over 40 years when this Happened. I was “Taught to run a saw Safely “ too. I was cutting on a hillside, turns out my footing wasn’t as solid...
