I'm not an expert, but unless I'm missing something, it looks like the young branches are hardening off and forming bark. The leaves look a little yellow on the tips, possibly needs more water, lite insect stress, or needs micronutrients (check and adjust in that order.)

Check around your local auto parts stores, a lot of them will loan-a-tool. You pay the replacement cost of the tool and they refund it when you bring it back.

I'm just curious, why replace the piston & rings, but not the cylinder? Seems to me that if your not going to replace the cylinder, then replacing the piston isn't going to do much for you. Wouldn't new rings close off the scoring on the piston? Not trying to start an argument, just want your...

I worked as a bicycle mechanic for a while. I cringe when someone pinches a tire and tells me there's enough air in the tire. I think I have a reasonably strong grip and I can't tell the difference over about 15 psi. Most mountain bike tires take 35 psi or more, road bikes usually take 65+. If...

I wouldn't. I've seen that stuff chemically melt certain plastics. I wouldn't even risk it getting on fuel lines, oil pump parts, air filter, carb diaphram, etc., etc.

If you've done headlights before then you probably already know, low & slow, heat is not your friend when polishing plastics. Takes a little more grunt, but I'd probably hand polish.

I love Meguiar's interior detailer for auto plastics. I haven't tried it on a saw yet but it should work.
