    is this canker?

I'm not an expert, but unless I'm missing something, it looks like the young branches are hardening off and forming bark. The leaves look a little yellow on the tips, possibly needs more water, lite insect stress, or needs micronutrients (check and adjust in that order.)

Stihl 066 32" Bar Lean Seize Failure - Advice

Check around your local auto parts stores, a lot of them will loan-a-tool. You pay the replacement cost of the tool and they refund it when you bring it back.

Stihl 066 32" Bar Lean Seize Failure - Advice

Thanks. Good to know. Most of what I've been working on have been cheep Chinese junk. The few with scoring, the cylinder has been just as bad or worse than the piston.

Stihl 066 32" Bar Lean Seize Failure - Advice

I'm just curious, why replace the piston & rings, but not the cylinder? Seems to me that if your not going to replace the cylinder, then replacing the piston isn't going to do much for you. Wouldn't new rings close off the scoring on the piston? Not trying to start an argument, just want your...

    Echo PE-230 weak throttle

Thanks Conquistador, it's a zama RB-K70. Guess I'll go through it one more time and replace it if that doesn't work, $15-$20 e-bay isnt too bad.

    Echo PE-230 weak throttle

Hey guys, I bought a Echo PE-230 stick edger off Craigslist, the fuel lines were rotted (should have see the guy pulling on it trying to show me that it starts with gas going everywhere. .) Got it home & replaced fuel lines, checked filter & tank vent. Cleaned the carb & replaced the diaphrams...

    Poor man's compression test?

I worked as a bicycle mechanic for a while. I cringe when someone pinches a tire and tells me there's enough air in the tire. I think I have a reasonably strong grip and I can't tell the difference over about 15 psi. Most mountain bike tires take 35 psi or more, road bikes usually take 65+. If...

Sold Stihl ES 25" bar and chains

Good to know, I probably won't be kicking myself for not jumping on it.

Sold Stihl ES 25" bar and chains

So tempted, but can't justify it at the moment. Would my 026 pull the skip chain?

    Saw cleaning

I wouldn't. I've seen that stuff chemically melt certain plastics. I wouldn't even risk it getting on fuel lines, oil pump parts, air filter, carb diaphram, etc., etc.

How clean do you get it?

If you've done headlights before then you probably already know, low & slow, heat is not your friend when polishing plastics. Takes a little more grunt, but I'd probably hand polish.

How clean do you get it?

I love Meguiar's interior detailer for auto plastics. I haven't tried it on a saw yet but it should work.

Derr. Here's the pic from the ad... an old homelite?

    Mystery saw

The chainsaw knowledge on this site never ceases to amaze me. So I've got one for you. I found this ad on my local Craigslist, it's for a Ryobi, but it seems to be a pawn shop or something, so maybe the other saw is for sale too. Can anyone ID the saw on the right and what would be a reasonable...

    Stihl 015 Question

If someone hasn't PMed it to you yet, do a search on this site. There's a 'beg for manuals' thread (sticky I think in the chainsaw fourm) People around here are very helpful.

    Broken bolt

Success! Didn't have much time to mess with it the past couple of days so I'd just hit it with a squirt of PB and tap with a hammer once or twice a day. Gave it one more shot, then rocked it back and forth with the vice grips and it came loose. Even found a screw on a broken weedeater head that...
