    Popular tree

Poplars are typical for being hollow. They also develop a canker disease that will rot the whole top off. Once you see the bark turn black, it’s done.

    Oak Trees

Man those things are fuzzy! I've never seen oaks sucker out like that but of course I am in the northeast, so Florida is a different environment. Does anyone think that a total tree prune is needed soon to keep structure?

Bur Oak developed big gash and now grows mushrooms on the trunk.

Mushrooms = rot. Best case looks like only half the tree has dead cambium. What does the crown look like? I would seriously look at the risk this tree presents if it were to fail in that area and fall.

    Becoming a climber

I am from central MA also and went through TCI to find an instructor in western MA to teach me. It was a day long process and learned MRS and SRS systems enough to buy my own gear and practice.

Root prune prairie fire crab apple tree(potted container)

Any roots that are not radial to the trunk are subject to removal to prevent girdling. Some advocate a complete pruning of all roots on the outside of the root ball on container trees. The white tape is to train a new main stem to be straight after they cut off its codominant twin next to it. It...

6 year old tree - should I trim

I would look at the lower branches and reducing them a bit so the tree doesn’t look like a candelabra. Also pick a central leader from those at the top and reduce the others. What you do now will set the stage for how it looks in the future. Look up Dr Ed Gilman on YouTube and on his website to...

Thinking of starting a YouTube channel and film tree works

If I may... Offer tips and pointers as to WHY you are doing it that way and your thought process. There are already millions of videos of guys ripping a tree apart - boring. I like Blair Glenn's videos because I always learn something.

My Echo 330T leaks bar oil real bad. Not sure where it comes from but I store it on its bar side, caps up. I'll check to see if it's the breather or cap that's leaking..
