    portable sawmill for home/landowner

Recently sold a piece of heavy equipment and looking to get myself into a sawmill. I want something portable...as in on a trailer. I dont need anything super fancy, just a good basic sawmill I can trailer around and mill some boards with. I have zero experience with bandsaw mills so preferably...

Buying my first chainsaw. Lowe's OK?

This isnt a bad idea...you can use the money to buy the same saw from Tractor Supply, they carry Husky saws now. The one right up the road from us had quite a few lined up the last time I walked through.

Buying my first chainsaw. Lowe's OK?

If you order wood from the guy we discussed a 50cc saw will do fine. I used a 50cc stihl with 20" bar for the first few years, before replacing it with an 18" and getting a 60cc saw with 20". The 60 is nice on the couple of big ones he brings but 98% of the wood he'll bring you is easily...

Buying my first chainsaw. Lowe's OK?

Thats where I bought my 562xp and they were priced significantly lower than Woodmans. I'm not sure if Husky is still doing it but they did a $50 rebate on all XP series saws too. It took about 8 weeks but I did get the $50 VISA gift card in the mail not too long ago.

Buying my first chainsaw. Lowe's OK?

I really would be surprised to hear a 455 Rancher from Lowes and a 455 Rancher from a specific Husky dealer are any different... But honestly, I think you might be better off buying a saw from a local dealer anyway and use your Lowes gift cards for other house essentials you would be buying...

Buying my first chainsaw. Lowe's OK?

Huh thats funny, small world indeed. If you still live in the same town you did back then my wife and I actually moved up there as well, we just might be neighbors! Actually technically we're the next town over...but very close. Do you already have a guy to order grapple loads from? I've been...

Buying my first chainsaw. Lowe's OK?

For what you're doing I think most guys here would recommend stepping up to a pro saw, either a Stihl 261 or 362, or maybe a Husqvarna 562xp...but if the 455 from Lowes is whats in your budget right now I say go for it. If nothing else it'll get you by for a couple years as you figure out what...

    Want to Sell Husky 562xp

Thanks for all the offers guys but no trades. The only thing I might consider is a 70cc Stihl and even then I'd probably only do it if you're local so we can run the saws before trading.

    Want to Sell Husky 562xp

So I picked this up about a month ago...I wanted a bigger saw for bucking firewood than my Stihl 50cc saws. I've run about 5 tanks through it now and while its a sweet running saw I honestly just dont notice enough of a difference over my 50's to warrant keeping the money tied up in it. I'm...

20" bar on an 026. Yay or Nay?

My 260 has worn a 20" for over 10 years now. Literally just swapped it over to an 18" a week ago to standardize my 50cc saws. I really don't think 2" makes a big difference to the saw to be honest.

    thinking of new saw

I've had only 3 50cc saws the last few years since i started cutting (2 ms261s and a ms260). Recently sold a 261 and picked up a 60cc. Went with husky though...562xp. Haven't cut too much with it but the little time I've spent with it I am not all that impressed. Honestly doesn't feel any better...

362 or 441 to pair with my 261?

Well guys, I picked up the 562xp yesterday. I was pretty torn between the ms362c and the 562xp so I just let price decide for me. The 362 was $759 and the 562xp was $699 - $50 mail in rebate for a total of $649. I paid $699 OTD (no sales tax in NH) and I will mail in for the rebate tomorrow...

Post pictures of your woodpile/splitting area

Once that last little gap is full it measured at 8.4 cord. So once the other half is full I should have 17 cord under there...2 years worth.

362 or 441 to pair with my 261?

Just wanted to give an update...a friend/coworker of mine brought in his 441 and let me take it home for a few days. I ran a tank through it bucking wood out of my pile... Wow, the difference in power from the 261 is incredible, it cuts through the big red oaks like butter. Its noticeably...
