    338xpt muffler & gasket mods

weird thing i've noticed, after relocating back to nz saw seems to cut heaps better (retuned). Maybe just because i have no 200t to compare it to over here :)

    338xpt muffler & gasket mods

alloy gaskets worked, but showed some evidence of leaking when i took them off. I only had them on for about 3 weeks while i waited for the husky gaskets. according to pgg, you absolutely need to mod muffler on 338. it's a pretty crappy saw, though, esp compared to 020. bigger motor...

    98 Gas (petroleum fuel etc)

was just wondering, for a few years in aus + nz petrol stations have been selling 98 octane (or rated octane) petrol along with 96 and 91, does usa have "botuique" (take that you bogans) petrol as well? According to the nice little brochures at the servos it's more refined, makes less...

Well got the Stihl ms361 back yesterday not happy at all

If you have to make a warranty claim and actually get something fixed without having to spend time and money on the problem probably a good idea to buy a lottery ticket just to see. in my experience. ("water damage" w't'f??) In western australia i feel for anything mechanical it's best to fix...

Brand New 338XPT Low on Power?

good to hear your saw is fixed, makes of wonder if i should play around 9th my carby a little. How does it compare to an 020 or 200t ?

Brand New 338XPT Low on Power?

personally, i think a decompression valve on a 40cc motor is stupid, and i just don't trust an auto-decompression valve... but no i doubt there is any real value in removing it except you'll never have to deal with warranty claims :) :) :) muffler mods will fix that problem too lol

Brand New 338XPT Low on Power?

http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=50562 as a post note, real gaskets work better than ones from beer, i ended up making video but was ashamed to put up results until my saw could cut quicker than an 020, which it didn't. Haven't given up hope though, just lost motivation. Will get...

Brand New 338XPT Low on Power?

also i assume your aware the saw should slowly gain power over the first few hours of running, most likely days or weeks of working

Brand New 338XPT Low on Power?

i wouldn't count on it. Search muffler mods if you want to make the saw go faster. Also something i found out is they have an auto decompression valve so it'll feel like it has no compression when you pull the cord, my valve had evidence of oil coming out of it (probably normal function) so i...

    changing a husqvarna sprocket.

also u can remove recoil on alot of saws and put a spanner on the nut there to hold crank when u undo nut. Pull cord works great, but make sure piston has closed exhaust port (on up stroke) before u start threading it in. I just kept jamming it in there till it fit no more. Don't use a car...

    Lakeside53's --361 muffler mod w/photos

brazing is hell easy, I bought a benzomatic torch for 80AUD, few plumbing rods and some flux and was good to go. First braze ever was on the saw muffler, and it came up hell strong. I think it's a good idea to wire brush the metal before you start as since then i brazed onto a cat muffler and it...

    Lakeside53's --361 muffler mod w/photos

i used copper pipe fittings, they transfer heat well for brazing and were pretty much the right shape to start off with. Also make some cool colours untill you run the saw. i think they were $1.50AUD each...
