    Stihl ms500i with a .404 chain?

Oh, i do have to admit all of mine is all full comp, and all hardwoods. So all of this might be useless to you, if your running semi or full skip and cutting softwood. And i'm only cutting firewood, so yeah that 3 lbs. could be a deal breaker for someone carrying it all day long.

    Stihl ms500i with a .404 chain?

I've only had a couple of saws that i knew i wasn't going to own for very long. Not that they were problematic, or anything like that. They were one's that i ran into such a good deal that i was about guaranteed to make money on them. As for the 500i, it seems to be the king of the heap of...

    Stihl ms500i with a .404 chain?

I have a 32" .404 bar for my 066. It works pretty good, and i think the semi chisel's ability to stay sharp is worth some cutting performance. I had a 32' .404 bar on an Echo 800P it was more than it wanted. I wouldn't put it on anything smaller than a 90cc saw.

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

Sounds like it's a full on 4 stroke that uses the premixed oil/fuel to lubricate the engine. Like BWalker mentioned non of the 2 stroke advantages .

    Fuel mix 20:1 or 50:1

STIHL 4-MIX technology works using a four-stroke rotation principle while lubricating all the internal parts via the two-stroke fuel mix, hence the name 4-MIX

New MS661 or 395xp, what do I pick?

I've been thinking about getting one from him for like 2 years.... I just can't see spending that much on a saw that would only get used occasionally at most. But if I didn't already have a 066, a couple big Echo's and a 7900 Dolmar, i would be all over it.

I would go big! 3120xp from thechainsawguy on here for the same money as you are talking.

I'm a pretty frugal guy, but it's hard to beat stihl ultra.

    PE vs BK vs HS

I know this is late. If you can find the mfg. EPA test docs., they do a high, medium, and low burn for what i would assume is EPA standard testing. Very well documented burn times, BTU output, wood load, procedure. It's all in their. Woodstock seems to be using the "Under sell and over...

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

As is my 066. The bar that's on it now is a 32" .404. You can cut some pretty ugly stuff with Oregon .404 semi chisel chain.

Sounds perfect! Nice when you can help someone who truly appreciates it.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Many of my friend's and i aren't on social media. Personally, i have very few uses for it. I do hear about pretty good deals on FB marketplace from time to time, but i've also heard about enough stupid stuff to still avoid it.

What Saw's On The Kitchen Island Today

I need to put the bar back on my Dolmar 6400/7900 big bore. That's a fun saw to run for the weight.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Good job done. Hopefully it pays working that close to valuable things. I always seem to get the free firewood right next to the house offers. I don't take them up on it.

    Scrounging Firewood (and other stuff)

Coworker went and looked at a house. He asked the lady selling it if it ever had water in the basement, she said no. H went back through her FB photo's and found some with water 3 blocks deep in the basement. Crazy.

    2nd woodstove

If you had the money, and knowing your current stove will be discontinued from the new emissions regulations, would you buy a second one? I'm thinking as a spare. I can get one about 30% off.

New pro 50cc saw options, no auto tune or mtronic

New chain. Uses it maybe twice a year. I think everyone that has had a saw shop sharpen a chain has the "They really messed this chain up" story. What sucks is when it's a 100+ dl chain. My brother borrowed my 066 with a 36" bar once. He ran into some dirt in the crotch of a maple tree, and...

New pro 50cc saw options, no auto tune or mtronic

A guy I work with puts a new chain on every time he uses his saw. Expensive, sure, but he doesn't use it very often, and it cuts great every time.
