    Emerald Ash Borer - Firewood

Naw, they're smaller than that. The holes are all curvy.

    Emerald Ash Borer - Firewood

Went out and checked and the pieces that had the worms were at the bottom of the pile. I wasn't going to dismantle the entire thing to look. But looks like they weren't EAB. Thanks all.

    Emerald Ash Borer - Firewood

ah. ok. That's good to know- maybe. But yea, these things were waaaaaay into the wood. right in the center of a 12" diameter piece of wood.

    Emerald Ash Borer - Firewood

I'll see about grabbing one tomorrow. There's about half a cord of wood and I started off with the stuff that had the larvae in it so it might be on the bottom. Can't recall. I'll head out tomorrow and see what it looks like.

    Emerald Ash Borer - Firewood

Far north New England. Didn't notice anything on the bark. Just the little entry (exit?) holes in the bark. The larvae are dead nuts into the center of the wood. I keep the wood in these things (now completed) The bug bomb idea might not be bad. I just don't want to keep stack and next...

    Emerald Ash Borer - Firewood

Business down the road from me took down two trees. I don't know my woods, all I know is its not pine so I'll use it for firewood. The guy took the trees down and bucked it up for me. I loaded up the truck. Brought it home and started to split it. Man, there are larvae all in it. Must be a...

CS Milling 101, Hints tips and tricks

Wow, I didn't think I'd be losing 6". huh. The larger trees I have are 20" or so. Looks like I'll have to go with a 28" bar then. And when you say you'd suggest skip, you mean not bother? And as for the auxiliary oiler, I was looking to do these in 10' lengths or so. The oiler necessary for...

CS Milling 101, Hints tips and tricks

I'll be ordering a Granberg setup once I know which size I need. I've got a 372xp with a 24" bar. Going to order a Granberg 30" mill. Is it worth the ~$150 to up to a 28" bar?

    Does octane matter that much?

holy ****. this thread took off. I used the saw this weekend, and it was giving me issues. I turned up the idle about a quarter turn. Ran....better, but still acting odd. I'll have to yank the carb and give it a go through.

    Does octane matter that much?

Yesterday? Eh, 70s. Had it running in hot weather before with no fuss. It was a hard start on the first pull too. Had it running for 30m on and off as I limbed a down tree. Each time it was difficult to restart. No change from the first pull to the fiftieth. Ordered a tune up kit. New filter...

    Does octane matter that much?

I thought that too, but it was always fine before. First time the issue has come up.

    Does octane matter that much?

oh ****, really? well, at least it isn't oil. XD

    Does octane matter that much?

yea, the stuff I used is fresh. I'm always gassing up crap. Actually, the old 93 I was using was really old; like, several months. This 87 isn't anymore than two weeks. Could just be the carb needs to be gone through. the gas up could be just poor timing.

    Does octane matter that much?

Husky 450. Never had an issue. Always ran great. Started on the second pull. This weekend clearing trees, fired up the saw and went fine. Gassed up and continued. Was fine for a bit, then it became hard to start. I had to keep yanking the cord to get it to go. And then after a revving it, if I...

    Husky 455 and 372xp - Files

yea, I'll just grab another set of files. I don't use the 372 very often, so this is the first time I had to think about files.

cool beans. pitch doesn't matter with the file then, correct?

    Husky 455 and 372xp - Files

yea, I made another mistake. Its a 450. Not a 455. So that's the 3/16 file. So I did buy the correct files for that saw. The 372 is going to take the 7/32 files. I should probably just delete this thread and start again, haha.

    Husky 455 and 372xp - Files

450**** that's my bad. I'm at the office and forgot which saw it was. Looked up the pic. Its a 450, not a 455. Hi. I'm stupid. Need to sharpen the chain on the 372. I have a box of files I bought for the 450 (not the Rancher if that matters). Can I use the same files...

    Wood Processors worth the money?

ah ha, I gotcha. was going to say, 150 cord is MOVING! haha

    Wood Processors worth the money?

holy ****. I'm looking at, like, twenty. maybe a bit more if I start selling off some wood. Eh, looks like I'll stick with the Husky and TSC splitter. My good friend said it best, I don't see the value, but I do see the benefit. Looks like its more of a nice thing to have. If I were doing...
