    All time worst chainsaw

I've been very pleased with my Echos other than blowing out the air breathers every other use.

Central boiler CL 5036 still kicking.

22 years is incredible. You should share a few stats like how often did you change the water and did you burn year around ? You still using the original rust prohibitive?

    Another year begins!!

I never start a fire until after deer season, I'm gone for 3 weeks so it's late November. Can't trust the wife to load the boiler, been there done that.

Central boiler CL 5036 still kicking.

Fluctuating water temps cause condensation which is why you hear about boilers rusting from the outside in. They should not be operated like a conventional wood stove where the owner let's them run out of fuel " Wood " and the water cools and then a rebuild. Yes, I've heard of many premature...

Central boiler CL 5036 still kicking.

It's all hydronic, hot water under the house and garage floors, don't want any settling in all that tubing. Maybe I'm over thinking though.

Central boiler CL 5036 still kicking.

A few stats I'd like to share. Boiler was bought new in 2012 and will be on its 11th winter. Burn 8 cords per year, 90% oak. Main pump runs year around and have not replaced a pump. Have never replaced a door gasket. Only have ever built 1 fire per year. Damper opens at 175* closes at 165*...

MS362 Runs great! Dies at idle.

Perhaps clean the filter and turn idle up and retune the jets. Start simple and go from there.

    Annual Firewood

Very similar regime. I usually stay a year ahead and cut on my own property, mainly Oak here. I cut, split and stack right on site and gather on trailer the next burning season.... less handling.

Perfect 1 Saw plan for all situations

At my age I don't pick up more than 50 cc saws 😁

    Why i heat with wood.

Wood is an endless resource here in logging country. I'm 62 and have heated with wood my entire life. I'm open minded but the stuff is laying everywhere around here, why not.

When to split various species 101???

I split everything as I cut. If it's to big, I noodle it first. If it's junk wood. I don't cut it 😄

What size wood do you prefer

This thread is gonna lead me to a little story......hang on. Wife and I ran into some old friends at Walmart. several years back they moved over the mountain into WV. He has the same OWB that I have " CB 5036 " and he heats half the square footage that I do but yet burns twice as much wood...

How much Wood do you Burn a Week in Cold Weather?

My brother is the same way, only a wood furnace. He has his own sawmill so an endless supply of wood but him and his wife can't go away for the weekend during cold weather.

How much Wood do you Burn a Week in Cold Weather?

Every answer will be vastly different. Live in the mountains of western VA and run a CB 5036 and heat a total of 5500 sq feet......all hydronic. Burn nothing but seasoned white, Red and chestnut oak, occasionally ash. 10 years with this boiler and consistently burn 7 - 8 cord per winter.

    Wood Stove and Chimney Cleaning

Something else to consider burning green wood is BTU loss. I've heated with an outside wood boiler for years, before all the silly restrictions and still burn seasoned wood. I recommend cutting or ordering your wood a year from burning it. Big Oak. I go 2 years......yes, with an outside wood...

    Echo saw ?

I have 3 Echo's and haven't looked at another saw since. Well, do like the air systems of my Husqvarna's. Lol

    Walnut??

Yeah if it splits hard and stinks, it may well be Elm. If it splits easy and burns fast, it may well be walnut. Im

if you could only have one saw

Ha ha, old thread and old man hear. If you factor in age and wore out back, I no longer handle over 50cc saws......my favorite? Echo CS 490 with muff mod and retune.

    OWB Questions

Definitely gonna require mixing valve for floors or wear thick soled shoes. Lol We have radiant through out, heating 4600 sq house and additional 30×30 garage set at 50*. CB 5036 set at 165 - 175 constant flow pump at the boiler and thermostats for each floor and garage. Yes, don't forget...

    Echo Saws, are they Dependable

Love my Echo saws and they all get worked hard. If I had 1 single complaint compared to my Husqvarna's, would be the air systems......filters need cleaning often. Every single 2 cycle engine I own has a muff mod and retune. When helping the brother at his sawmill I carry CS310 - CS490 - CS590...
