How much have you burned so far?

I don’t know that I have an endless supply, but I have a lot of wood currently. I’m just not sure how long I’ll have surplus. I do season my wood even though I have an older conventional wood boiler. Everything is split and stacked for at least a year before it gets burned. I’m not sure what...

How much have you burned so far?

I’d say I’ve burned like 4 cords so far. I started the furnace about 2-3 weeks early this year. I’ve been burning mostly junk though, pine and aspen. I’ve only been using my oak and hickory when it’s been really cold. Is it worth the extra cost of the furnace? They cost like $3,000 more...

    Engagement photo's: Ms. 462cm (Amy) and I

I was quoted nearly $1200 with 28” light weight bar. $999 sounds like a great deal.

    Want to Sell Husqvarna 14" Bar & Chain 501959252 3/8 Pitch .050 Gauge 52DL includes Oregon 91VXL052 chain $25 +

Hi, Are these still for sale? I’m not the best when it comes to compatibility, but I think this would fit my Craftsman saw, it has the same mounts as a Husky 550xp.

    Fill me in on CAD...

I have CAD. I have no money. So I live vicariously through y’all. I’m saving pennies for a STIHL 462. Need more pennies. In the short term, I’d like a 16” thin kerf bar for my crapsman.

Firewood...The Most Important Piece of Equipment

It depends on where the wood is. If it’s on my property, my John Deere is irreplaceable. If it’s somewhere else, I’ve gotta have my dump trailer. I’ve tried hauling wood in my truck bed, did it for 3 years actually, but my truck is one of them grocery getters so it’s not ideal.

    PPE in your opinion

I wear a helmet when falling trees or cutting stuff above me. Always wear some form of glasses. Sometimes I wear ear protection. I avoid chaps like the plague. Sometimes I wear boots, I do have steel toes. I’ve also been known to buck up some firewood at the house wearing gym shorts and...

    Husqvarna 562xp life

I love my 562. It’s got probably 100 hours on it, no issues. Our 550 at work runs like crap, but it’s been run under water, so can’t really blame Husky for it’s problems...

    2 Chainsaw Operation

I’d go Husky 550xp and 390xp. We run a 32” bar full camp cutting white oaks with the 390 and it handles it no problem. 550 is a great limbing saw.

Out with the old, in with the new!

Very Nice! I hope to one day own a heat master.

    Government designed gas can spouts

I just got one of those High Flow spouts for my Diesel Can. It’s crazy that a guy has to buy a can and then spend another 11$ to buy a spout and vent so it can work right. Before now I’ve used the no-spill gas cans and they seem to work alright, just slow. I do like those for chainsaws because...

Carrying a chansaw on a tractor

It’s a 2019 2025r. It’s been an awesome machine for managing my 10 acres. Tires are Galaxy Garden Pro R3+ which were a must have for me. They are available as an option on all 2 series Deere tractors. There’s something very similar that just came out for the 1 series.

If you don’t like your 562, I’d be glad to take it off your hands.

    Drop Starting a Chainsaw

I drop start, usually with the brake on. I’m not really sure why it would be a dangerous technique.

Any millenials still heat with wood?

Life is hard, no doubt. It sounds like we are in the same boat. I work 5-7 days a week, cut firewood, and try to keep things functioning around the house. It’s good to keep busy, and usually I feel accomplished at the end of the day.

Any millenials still heat with wood?

I went to Penn State for 5 years and graduated with 2 bachelors degrees. When I was younger I was very naive when it comes to finances. I picked a field that doesn’t really pay well. I bought into the “do something you’ll enjoy” advice that I got from so many people. I paid cash for as much...

Any millenials still heat with wood?

Hi guys; I’m 30 so definitely categorized as a millennial. While I have some typical millennial problems, such as a boatload of student debt, I don’t feel like I fit the rest of the stereotypes. I’ve been heating with wood since we bought our house, so this will be my 5th season. Before that...
