Came across this post... https://www.arboristsite.com/community/threads/husqvarna-50-piston-44mm-or-45mm.32404/ You may be spot on! Here’s the model number plate, maybe that’ll provide some other insight.

I thought the same thing, although when fully closed the “out” marking lines up with zero. So the markings are accurate and double checked by measuring sockets.

Here’s the top of the piston... does that miner bear any weight? Couldn’t find any info on it.

    Husqvarna 51 P&C

Not sure where my eyes came up with 43, although not at 45. Not sure what the +/- is on the brass calipers, it’s at 44mm though. Closer to 45 than 46 though, guess I’ll be ordering the 45mm Caber. Anybody disagree?

    Husqvarna 51 P&C

I already have a 55 so no need for the 55 top end. Plus I don’t see the rationale in putting China stuff on something that just needs a new ring. Any input on what size ring will fit in that Mahle cylinder? Reason I’m asking is the piston diameter is 43mm. My assumption based off of Mahle number...

    Husqvarna 51 P&C

Sweet deal! Ring broke trying to get it off. It was stuck right there where the scoring was. Cleaned up the inside of the cylinder though and the picture is after a light sanding of the piston. I found this browsing the net...51 - 46ZD 5 MAHLE (45stamped on top in blue paint). I don't see...

    Husqvarna 51 P&C

Picked up a junked Husky 51 and local shop after customer wanted to junk it. The only thing wrong with it was low compression, 25 psi. Got it apart, carb is good. Pulled P&C, cylinder looks good but piston not so much. Wanted to get your guys opinion on piston. Do you think a new ring will work...

    Nik's Poulan Thread

Hahaha, no selling it here but thanks for the info. Looking at the IPL it didn't appear to come apart but wasn't sure. Any tips on getting in there to clean out the carbon build up?

Does the muffler on a 8500 come apart? Detached it from the cylinder and have the baffle out but can't seem to separate the muffler. Going to clean up all the carbon build up.

070 vs 090 vs something else

You're welcome. Just trying to help you out. Many people have helped me out so trying to do the same with the minimal knowledge I have.

070 vs 090 vs something else

I'll reiterate what Ted mentioned though, I'd run the .404". Better oiling capability and also have an aux oiler on your mill also with a 42" bar.

070 vs 090 vs something else

I would say go to the "beg for manuals" thread and ask for the IPL and service manual for the 070. All I have is the IPL for the 090 and it only mentions the .404 and 1/2" sprocket. Looking around though it looks like the ID of the sprocket has to be 22mm. Pop yours off and double check that. If...
