What does your bench look like?

Just curious how you guys keep organized. My bench is a damn disaster at the moment. Two 024 Supers, one 026 I just picked up last night, and a 262XP I've been waiting for USPS to deliver my cylinder for for almost four weeks now.

    A disappointment

I appreciate the offer , but the piston itself is fine. I just want to put new rings in it. FYI, I got everything I needed off fleebay for just under $50.

    A disappointment

So I went to my local Stihl dealer to try and buy parts for my 024S rebuild project this afternoon. I've been there a few times before on weekends to get parts and dealt with the old man that had opened the shop originally. Super nice guy that loves to keep old machines working. He had warned me...

stihl 034 av oiling problems after clutch drum replacement

That would be correct on oil in the clutch area. The only thing I can think of is the mating face of the case got damaged while removing the hub, or something went wonky on the clutch cover. Either way, you seem to have a bad sealing surface either between the case and bar, or bar and clutch...

stihl 034 av oiling problems after clutch drum replacement

Have you checked the supply hose from the pump to the oiling port? I wonder if that got damaged removing the hub somehow...

stihl 034 av oiling problems after clutch drum replacement

If it's oiling, the pump is fine. I had this problem and it turned out the bar wasn't sealing properly against the oiling port on the case.

LOL, I didn't sat they were all runners. It three 026's to make one run. Oh, and the 262 is currently on the bench getting sorted.

    New project

So here's my plan. I'm going to rebuild both at the same time. Not splitting cases, as bearings seem good, but crank seals, carb rebuild etc. One is going to be kept bone stock. The other I'll slowly mod, muffler first, then base gasket delete, until I get the courage to do a mild port. I want...

When is a cylinder not worth saving?

Thanks for the input folks. I had another look in better lighting, and the plating is definitely damaged.

When is a cylinder not worth saving?

I've got an 039 on the bench currently. Bad crank seals fried the piston, and left some marks on the cylinder. I've removed the aluminum transfer with muriatic and a ball hone, but there are still some deepish looking scores in it that don't go past the plating. How do you guys judge when to...

Anybody know anything about a Husqvarna 445?

I've had a 445 for years and have had no problems at all. I'm running it with an 18" bar, in mostly softwood.

    Want to Buy 262XP cylinder

I'm looking for either a good used or NOS 262XP cylinder for a saw that I'm restoring. I know it's a long shot, but can't hurt to ask!

    Husky 51 oiling issues

I figured it out. The cheeks of the bar weren't super clean, so it couldn't sandwich together properly. Thanks for all the input for such a silly problem!
