    Husqvarna 120 mark ll

So have the part number for the swap. Change out the pulley and retaining screw. You can get away with using the original screw but it requires a shim. Hope that saves time of stuffing around with damaged springs.

    Husqvarna 120 mark ll

Thanks for that. I have looked at those already. Interestingly they do not include the break down for the start assist. Part 545008028 seems to be a solid one piece pulley. I had ordered another similar one with a different part number already but look identical so will see if I’m heading down...

    Husqvarna 120 mark ll

It’s a gimmick they should piss off. I might start look into sourcing. Solid pulley from another model. Perhaps the earliest ones fit.

    Husqvarna 120 mark ll

There are no mods that I’m aware of and the springs are genuine.

    Husqvarna 120 mark ll

Greetings, Have a mark ll and the easy start spring keeps binding up. I replaced one pulled three times drop starting (I know you shouldn’t) damaged, replaced and pulled very gently just turning it over, damaged. The engines fine and turns over easily. There’s no obvious damage. Is...

Greetings, Does anyone have the manual for this machine. Please note the RC model. I dont know what the diference between the R and RC models are but i can tune up this stihl. Its bogging right from the start. You can kind of finese it up to full revs over about 30 seconds. I...

    Fabricating Full Wrap saw handle

FYI, a nifty trick to get nicer bends. Fill the pipe with fine sand. Pack as much in as possible. Can’t be loose. A bit of moisture can help. Tape or plug the ends to stop sand coming out. Bend away. The sand doesn’t compress and you get really good bends. I’ve done it on alloy pipe which did...

    Chainsaw tool holder

Not sure if anyone is interested in this handy little hack. I attach my chainsaw tools/sharpener to the bar sheath. It’s handy out in the bush. Instructions detailed in the below instructable. Super easy and works a treat. Saves leaving stuff in the bush...

    Ms180 crank

Found a bit of time to keep tinkering. Separated the cranks. The conrod for the 180 is required in the 250 crank As it’s about 5-6mm shorter. The big end will need a 14mm od and 12mm id bearing. That is not a standard bearing and I don’t even think such a bearing exists. So, I have ordered some...

    Aftermarket fuel line issues

Stihl make a great product but that fuel line set up is definitely a poor design. You can see it trying to kink as you push in the carb. Given that a lot of the other hoses are moulded including the end of the pick up line, I’m surprised they didn’t mould in an elbow given how tight that turn is.

    Aftermarket fuel line issues

I have been cursing the ms290 because it ran and then wouldn’t start. Ran with fuel poured in. EVENTUALLY figured out the line was kinked and ended up here. I’m not waiting for a genuine line to turn. I have a bit of 4mm OD copper tube that I heated with a torch, gently bent when cherry red and...

    Ms290 rebuild

Oh and just found the flywheel key has stripped. I’ll cut a slot and install a steel one. I have access to cutters.

    Ms290 rebuild

The case doesnt foul so shouldn’t be a problem. I checked the brake, clutch and pads. Everything seems ok. No obvious damage or wear. The picture obviously indicates some sort of abuse. As well as the state I got the saw in, completely covered in muck. But once cleaned up and with the exception...

    The Beg for Manuals Thread

Hi, chasing a manual for ms290. In particular trying to remember where the other ring terminal goes‍♂️ Did take pics but just wiped my phone.

    Ms290 rebuild

Howdy, got a ms290 and the piston is scored. Ordered just a cheap Chinese P&c and they sent one with machine screws that were to short. Got some longer bolts for it and see how it goes. It owes me $60 so far so not too worried. Anyway, I have cleaned up the case and it’s had a hard life. The...

Stihl MS290 to MS390 Conversion questions?

How much of a difference do these pop ups make in this saw?

Stihl MS290 to MS390 Conversion questions?

Does age really matter. Itake relevant to a conversion so why re invent the wheel. I get the self tapping screw but did you look at the picture. Two completely different threads. I would imagine that if you were just supposed to use the bolt on the right, it wouldn’t be tapped with a fine thread

Stihl MS290 to MS390 Conversion questions?

I just purchased a cheap copy ms390 to stick in a burnt up ms290. I didn’t want to spend a lot in case it was totally junk. Anyway, it arrived and everything is ok except the pan bolts. OEM bolt is a course thread bolt and the supplied a fine thread bolt and nearly an inch shortly. I’m trying to...

    240v flex shaft grinder

Hi All, Chasing a 240v flex shaft grinder for Australia. Was looking at the Foredom TX but they are over $700 delivered. I might be happy to pay around the $300 mark for one. Do a lot of porting and grinding, a lot of general maintenance and hobby stuff as well. Any suggestions? I don’t care...
