husky cuts 2-3" sideways, then binds

40+ cuts later, all in the same mystery spot except all the perfect cuts with the new saw? The fact that the new saw never developed a problem pretty much removes the possibility that it was the wood causing all the damage. No way of making an intelligent diagnosis, or even a cedible guess...

husky cuts 2-3" sideways, then binds

Guys, I am no where near as experienced as most of you, so I was really hesitant to jump in here, but I can think of one thing that nobody has mentioned. I just read the whole thread from the beginning, and if we are getting straight info from the OP, it is REALLY hard to ignore the fact that...

Anyone ever knocked the drive links off a chain?

That sounds like a guaranteed way to destroy a bar! Burs or other damage on drive links will just gouge out the inside rails if you insist on continuing to run the chain.

Timber wolf 590 Oiler adjustment screw

Yeah, my 590 has very limited range of motion on the adjuster screw too - and I'm not going to try to force it just to find out how hard it is to break!

Choosing a saw for high altitude

I was laughing too - couldn't you hear it in my typing? I generally don't like stupid little pictures in my text, so I always enable the hear-o-type feature on my keyboard so that no one will take me too seriously!

Choosing a saw for high altitude

Hey, I wasn't the first one to kick that corpse, just the only one to acknowledge it. There were three necroposters above me - Go quote somebody else!

    Repair help.

Locktite sells (or maybe "sold"?) a liquid thread repair product - I have a very old one on the shelf that I never used, I have no idea if it has heat restrictions, works worth a damn, or is even still available, but it might be worth looking into. If it was my saw, I'd probably put the...

Choosing a saw for high altitude

I know nothing about Stihl saws (except that I absolutely do not want one, so I do not care about them), but I DO live over 7000 feet up, so I have some experience with the altitude. I do not think you should worry too much about the limiter caps on current saws, every single one of them must...

    Nik's Poulan Thread

The garbage plastic choke activator on my 2900 broke within the first year I owned it - replaced it with a piece of coat hanger bent to do the same function - the home-made METAL part has not broken since!

Poulan Pro Synthetic 2 Cycle Oil + others (Not really an oil comparison thread)

Walmart # 565253094, shown on their web site as a Poulan Pro 50:1 Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil in 2.6 oz. bottle On the side label in the picture you can clearly see "Husqvarna Group Co., LTD". And the 19.6oz bottle from Walmart # 565363724 shows the same thing on the bottom right corner of the front...

Poulan Pro Synthetic 2 Cycle Oil + others (Not really an oil comparison thread)

By the way - that item on the current Walmart site is NOT shown as synthetic. And my bottle of that Walmart stock number (ordered in October, 2018), also does not say it is synthetic. And it is clearly marked "Husqvarna Professional Products" on the back label.

Poulan Pro Synthetic 2 Cycle Oil + others (Not really an oil comparison thread)

In the March 2019 list of JASO certified oils, you will see that item 390 is Poulan Pro Synthetic 2-Cycle Oil, submitted by Husqvarna Group Co., LTD, is certified as JASO FD. That is the same JASO certification that other Husqvarna oils currently have, including Poulan Pro, Jonsered, and Red...

Toasted my clone ms660 on amsoil at 100:1

Foaming is NOT normal in any decent gear oil. Good oils have anti-foaming additives that work quite well. If there was foam in the gear case, it was either contaminated with water or had some really crappy oil in t. I do not know if it was Amsoil's fault or not - I would never touch...

Ryobi Chainsaw - Tough Cord Pull

If the recoil of the rope is not COMPLETELY smooth all the way in, it can cause the problem with premature wear on the pulley teeth. I saw that once with a brand new OEM Husky pulley - for some reason, that pulley seemed to be just a little too tall on the center post, so when the retaining...

Ryobi Chainsaw - Tough Cord Pull

But you still need to replace that chewed-up starter pulley on yours. And it that saw has as little run-time on it as you say, then I would be concerned with trying to figure out WHY it got chewed up so fast. Like I told you in a previous post, when you have that starter cover off, be sure to...

    Carb question

Of course, if some monkey has been cranking on those adjustment screws like an idiot, that high speed circuit might not be able to completely close or be properly adjusted, no matter what kind of carb the saw has. There IS a reason why every user manual cautions to only GENTLY close those...

    Carb question

Here is a direct quote from the Echo service manual for the Echo CS-600P: "NOTE: When H mixture needle is turned completely clockwise, the engine will continue to run. If engine speed at WOT is above 13,300 rpm, adjust H mixture needle counterclockwise and set maximum engine speed at less than...

    Carb question

No - the 590 uses a different carb than 620, which is the pro version of the same saw. The carb on the CS-590 has what is effectively a "bypass" circuit on the high speed screw that ensures a minimum amount of fuel is still fed to the engine even if someone completely closes the high speed screw.

    Carb question

I do not know anything about your Husky, but maybe it has a carb similar to what Echo uses on the 590? I do know that my Echo CS-590 has a carb with a partially fixed high speed jet - even when the screw is completely in, it will run fairly well in most conditions - designed just to protect the...

    Fuel can fix

I use quite a few old gas cans, both metal and plastic - I haul a lot of gas out here in the middle of nowhere! Old spouts crack, and the gaskets get old and leak bad. I recently discovered on the EZ-Pour web site that they will send you a few new gaskets for free if you have problems with...
